Default Chasing 800whp biuld

So I've owned this car off and on sense 2006 it's a 2003, I first boosted in 2009 and then sold the car in 2014. I bought the car back beginning of last year, in 2009 I did a small build piston/rods to get what I could out of my turbonetics kit... After almost 100k of running boost the motor let go last year. I replaced with a stock 30k engine it lasted 5 weeks then went bang cause I was greedy and didn't want only 400wtq...lol so I bought a "built" motor out of long island NY which end up being junk and I waisted 5g's on it 🤦*♂️. So at this point I was at a crossroad, do I stay vq and do another full biuld or do I look into doing an LS swap or other swap 🤷*♂️ the shop that is doing my biuld "limpmodetuning" in Portland Maine and I sat down and spent hours going over my goals and budget.. at the end of the day we both decided that stay with a vq engine was what I wanted and they were happy to help... So then beginning starting all over from scratch. Here is a quick parts run down

Wisco 8.8-1 pistons .20 over
Manley turbo tuff rods
Arp 625 head studs
Arp main Studs
dynasty billet girddle
Tomei .7mm head gaskets
Spec P-trim super twin disk clutch
Arp sr20 flywheel bolts
CJM stage 3 fuel system older single 340lph pump kit
1050cc Bosch injectors
kenetics manifold
Megan headers
custom turbo kit
BorgWarner S300SX-66 .91a/r
TurboSmart HyperGate 45 wastegate
Mishimoto R line 12x31x4 intercooler.
bov tbd
I will keep this post updated with pics and info as it comes we are hoping for the car to be done by may 10th 🤞🤞🤞

Looks good - sub'd for sure!

I would tell you that a 340lph is about 2/3rds of what you'll need to hit 800. My DW 320lph got to mid-500s. Look into a 450lph or a 525hellcat lph - both will fit into the OEM basket with CJMs mods. Can we all assume youre running E85?

You'll probably need bigger injectors

Please please please don't use the kinetic manifold (sorry Conway)

Avoid Megan headers and megan parts altogether … I'd go with a set of stillens, DC or Z1 headers instead.

Tell us about your custom turbo setup?

Can I convince you to go with Koyo or another radiator? I do not like Mishi and you'll see that people don't have great results with them.

Add an oil cooler

Add a crank pulley dampener

Upgrade your bearings - ideally ACL 'Race' and might want to drop down and add .001" for additional clearance.

what kind of headwork are you going to have done and/or what about cams & valve train?

what are you going to tune with?

Hey i wanted to chime in cuz i had a little different experience than the response set above.

I’m sitting at 620 whp. Greddy 18g twins. 1000cc ID injectors and using a DW 320 with room to go. But it won’t make 800whp that’s for sure.

Also I have a Mishimoto radiator and have zero cooling problems. Also have an oil cooler and pathfinder mod. The OP is taking about a Mishi intercooler though.

I agree with everything else in the above post! Why the dampener though? I need education on that point.

What happened with this build? May has come and gone!

Impressive numbers for the greddy kit for sure - 620 on how much boost? I'm gonna speculate thats around 18-20psi? I also speculate that youre running dangerously close to your fuel pumps max output. My tuner stopped me at my 568hp bc of my DW 320 (I thought it was rated for 340lph?? I could be wrong??).

Keep an eye on Mishis ... I'm def not a fan, not impressed with their stuff.

research / youtube the benefits of dampening pulleys ... how I understand it is that there are harmonic pulses going through the crankshaft that can negatively affect the system.

My 620 run was on 20psi. To say that’s on the outer limits of the 18g is being kind. As far as the pump goes, I honestly don’t remember the lph rating. I do remember that the early DW pumps like mine were a slightly lower rating than the second version they came out with shortly after. So I could have a 320, but currently DW could be making them at 340.

On the Mishimoto, I got my wires crossed ordering parts. Kyle at IPP recommended the Koyo, and I had to wait for some time to place my order. And in that time things got messed up in my head and I got the Mishi. Then i figured I’d try it since i got it. If i had it to do again I’d go Koyo all the way. However i can’t say anything bad about the Mishi. It’s been good to me.

ill have to have a look at the dampening pulley theories. Thanks!

Beall, out of curiosity why don't you like the Kinetix? I have it and I am planning keeping it once I pull the trigger for FI.

I dont think it's any better than OEM. From a design standpoint I dont like the turns/bends/runners, airbox, etc - I think it's more 'show' and less 'go' ... just my opinion ... I'll find a better response to your questions...just me! credit due where credit deserved, some people have made good power with it - so maybe it's ok ...

Ok, right on I can see that. Not much available unless you get one custom made. I just absolutely hate the stock design, too many bolts, too big, etc. Unfortunately they don't make the Cosworth anymore, I'm not too big into show as others but I do want everything looking good to a point lol.

I agree ... it's a double edge sword - I honestly think Nissan made the 95% to 99% percentile best intake possible for the car. I hate it too ... it's bulky and heavy ... I think they stepped in the right direction when they made the HR out of plastic ... I have some concept sketches I want to fab-up once I can move the car along.

Yea - the cosworths are nice - I saw one for $1600 on FB. I think the CNC made by CJM is pretty sweet too.

Yeah that one is nice too, I'd love it if swapping over to a HR plenum or GT-R plenum was easier. I know they have done twin TBs on a DE before but it's not a simple thing to do. I do believe I've seen one of those plenums piped to a single TB as well but that isn't efficient at all lol.
