Default VG30dett manifolds

I've tried searching and all I could find was one small thread about a guy that got as far as mounting the manifolds and turbos onto the engine.

So for £70 I bought some 300zx twin turbo manifolds VG30dett, they share the same port sizes and spacing as VQ35de exhaust gaskets, the VQ heads can have the exhaust studs in two different layouts so can match the VG manifolds.

The only issue is one stud front and back don't line up and the manifolds will require the holes elongated to fit most likely with a cap head bolt rather than a stud and nut.

I have some pictures on another 350z forum..... based in the uk and I will try to upload them here at some point.

I know these log manifolds wont flow great nor can you fit big turbos. (I have a sr20det turbo I plan to clock to see if it fits with minor shaving of the housing or manifold heat sheild bolt holes).
But for the price of them I don't understand why people haven't tried them before as they are cast better than HKS or GTM probably and should last a long time.

If your going to flame just @#*% off as you contribute nothing to socity and improving or trying new things, get a life.

Anyway not in a big rush to do this as it's just a bit of fun, my main 350z will always be votech supercharged and maybe if my s14a sr20det goes pop I will stick my spare VQ35 in with these manifolds as suspect the engine mounting points might also need a bit of shaving or custom work.

Those DETT exhaust manifolds flow quite decent even though they are not after market pretty. If bigger turbos are needed then use adaptors.

Just some pictures, not done any work yet, might not get round to doing it ever as I have lots of things I should be doing with my Z and SX but if someone wants to take note and have a play also then hope this helps.

Wonder if the VG30DET setup would fit? Single turbo with the connecting pipe running around the back of the engine. Back in the day my VG30DET with a GTX35/82 did 425 whp at 15 psi boost.

you would have to bash the back firewall to make the connecting pipe fit I think from searching, but cannot confirm and don't know if anyone has tried.

The t28 s14 garrett turbos should fit (well one side so far) Just might need to shave some spots off the compressor housing depending on rotation (should be fine if the outlet is facing down) and the exhaust housing slightly touches the gearbox mounting point, not sure if gaskets on the turbo will space it out enough or if it will need a couple of mm shaved off the block gearbox mounting point(you can see the shiny part it was touching).

Unfortunately as i was doing it myself and have removed the head studs i had to hold the turbo+manifold+cylinder head on the block so not ideal for getting measurements or fouling points.

Bottom right part was the issue, standard engine mounts wont work either (probably).

dirty turbo, I want a new seal but can't find them on their own yet.

used a brass wire wheel on the outer area to clean up the oxidation,

Given the gap between the back of the engine and the firewall there's a fair chance that the DET X over would fit I think. But what you are doing looks interesting.

I looked into this myself but I didn’t have the parts in front of me. That’s looking sweet. You might have trouble with the engine mounts though. Might have to get your fabrication on. Good luck! Love the DIY stuff.
