2007 HR ECU vs 2008 HR | Idle issue fix | forced Induction
Hi,
Just wanted to share some info after a couple years of troubleshooting some pretty awful idle surge. So I have an 07 HR Nismo with the Stillen supercharger kit. Been tuning with Seb from SpecialtyZ. We finally just nailed this down. This year, I upgraded to the Topgunz A-A kit and got rid of the p0300 random misfire because of the crappy OE Stillen setup. I still had idle issues though. Boost leak checks left and right, replaced my TB's at some point, going through harness connections. Come to find out, the 2007 HR ECU has bugs related to idle relearn. Seb set me up with a 2008 ROM and moved all our tune mods to the 08 ROM. Flashed it this morning, idle relearn was successful, and was steady and purring like a kitten. I teared... no joke.
Just wanted to pass the info.

It was just a ROM swap. Still have the 07 Nismo ECU. ROM I was using was EV12C and Seb used EV52D (although Uprev only lists EV52A/B.. could have just been how he named the file he sent me)
So glad that you posted this, thank you. I've got a repair shop and I use HP Tuners a lot for different things mostly transmission related. Wanted to try it out on my 07 Z but despite what their website says most 07 HRs are not compatible. My ecu is a EV12C operating system and the ECU files that I've found that actually worked with HPT were EV50 and up. I didn't realize that ROM can be used on an older ECU. Going to talk to my programming guy tomorrow. He does all of our ECM/TCM replacement flashing/reflashing. I know UPREV is far superior with map switching and ARC features but if HPT works it'll get me by for awhile. Fabbing up a midmounted S366 on mine. We'll see how it goes. If I blow it up I'll build a motor but going to try and keep the boost low and fuel trims ultra safe in the beginning. Thank again for posting that info
I'm sure I will once I get farther into this. I like the fact that they're a small company dedicated to a niche market, I fully intend to support that. Just playing around for now, it's my fun car. I doubt that HPT is going to get any better for Z cars anyway. Too complicated to reverse engineer for too small of a market. I'm surprised they've gone this far. I think it does more for their marketing, showing a growing list of supported vehicles looks impressive maybe.
