Need some help guys!!

I doubt many people are running the same combo as I being cosworth plenum, and ALtered Atmosphere fuel rails but.......

I have some plastic spacers that I can not figure out where the heck they go?!? First clue is there are only 4. Here is a pic

I keep thinking spacers for fuel rails but took some pics before disassembly and doesn't look like that's it.

I've taken the plenum off several times over the years but don't remember them back then. I have never messed around with injectors and fuel rails. Is it normal to be able to twist injectors side to side after installation and torqueing fuel rail bolts?

I'm about to assemble everything but unsure if I can reuse my 2 new METAL intake runner gaskets, IF I discover where they were needed after torqueing plenum..

Any guesses???

Thanks,

George

I would bet that those are for the fuel rails since there are 4 larger bolts for the fuel rails

I run a cosworth and CJM rails and i used a thicker phenolic type gasket to help raise the cosworth up a hair.

I think I know where they go, but need a picture of your engine bay to confirm.

YUP!! That is where my head is too. Let me search thru my pre-assemble picts to find one that has the best view and I'll post it.

Really appreciate the guidance!

never been happy with the "Looks" of my engine bay so have not taken one in many years. This one looks like mine but couldn't swear it is on a stack of bibles. Pretty sure tho

Yes. They're optional spacers for the fuel rail. You only use them if your injectors are too tall to fit without them. If you don't need them, you don't use them. Not all fuel injectors are the same length.

Newer ID1050s (well, I think all their 14mm x 48mm injectors) are coming in two pieces. The injector with a removable tophat that comes off and would shorten the injector main body … I can get pictures if this isnt making sense…

Whew......getting RTV on both sides of 2 metal intake runner gaskets AND spacer to clear fuel rail AND the bottom of the plenum AND the top of the intake runner.

Then to get holes to line up for bolts was a b1tch. I'm going to have to come up with a better plan next time.

Hal was kind enough to reply to an email although it's been around 14 years since they built the car. He backed up cobra's identification

I wanted to thank James at EverythingVQ.com for the help with injectors!

Between giving them some 'Love' and replacing the paper gaskets with metal ones, the hesitation is gone!

Now to tackle the new AC problem before we get into triple digits round here.

Appreciate all the help!
