Machined Idler Pulley Broke for Vortech
Hey guys,
I'm wondering if there are any other options for the flat machined idler pulley for OldmanZ’s belt layout for extra wrap around the crank. I had the OEM idler machined (apparently too much) and broke after 1000km of driving. They took off as little as possible to make it flat and side to side for the belt to fit, and still broke. The belt sat in the pulley perfectly. The machine shop still warned that it is pretty thin and wasn’t guaranteeing it will hold up. I assured him this is what guys are doing online and it’s working. And here we are lol. The pulley actually sheared where the flat part meets the wall. If it didn’t have to be machined side to side for the belt to sit flat I think it may have held up.
Has anyone else had their break?
Has anyone tried machining an aftermarket aluminum one? Are the walls thicker? I’m thinking of getting a custom flat pulley with thicker walls made to avoid this happening again.
Thanks
