Difference between ATI FMU and Vortech FMU??
Hi, whats the difference between the ATI FMU and the VORTECH FMU unit, and will the stock ECU relearn its original settings when using the Vortech Split Sec box as far as timing goes........and what exactly is the SplitSecond box doing, just control timing and thats it or does it control fuel as well and is it a stand alone unit and if so please explain the difference between a stand alone and a piggyback unit, or is there a difference..........and will the stock ECU go into a different fuel map when using the Vortech kit. Please elaberate on this whole thing if you know anything....Thxs in advance.

That was sorta funny lol.
Kevin,
The main difference is the ATI Aeromotive made FMU just adds more fuel based on what you set it at whereas the Split Second does more than that based off of MAF voltage and can adjust for elevation which is a must. I love the SS myself wish I went that route.
As for the ECU relearning what the SS changes no it won't or else it would be useless it overides the ECU at times I guess in open loop, our cars ECU doesn't like to be toyed with in closed loop. Open loop is where the cars are having problems with FI.
Anywayz that is my non scientific best I can do as a non DIYer.

The Splitsecond is a cool little device and the Aeromotive one that ATI uses is nefty as well, but....
WHEN THE HELL IS SOMEONE GOING TO MAKE AN ECU THAT YOU CAN JUST SWAP IN. An ecu that is just like the ones that turbo cars come with, that you can tune. I know that there are Motec and AEM etc out there, but these things are still not like what comes on a 3000gt or 300zx, or even a doge SRT-4. I need something that will adjust when it is **** hot outside compared to being 15 degrees.
Any ideas?

Never! It's not profitable to design a device that is so technical for just a few cars. If there were thousands of people doing this, maybe, but fact is very few people have FI'd their 350Z.
