Default Question regarding ATI with TS Flash, BOV, and Tuning.

I have a Z with the TS reflash. It was completely stock when I got the reflash done. Now I am thinking of getting the ATI Procharger and putting it on myself.

1) Will I need the FMU that comes with the kit?

2) Since my car was already reflashed and IF I do not need the FMU provided by the kit, can I run my car without any problems until I get it reflashed for the SC at TS (In other words: Will I be ok to drive down from the Valley to Torrance to get the reflash w/o any problems? Or will I need a flatbed?)

3) IF I will need the FMU that comes with the Kit should I take it off after the reflash?

4) Can I run a BOV to the SC w/o any problems? What are it's disadvantages?

5) This might be a dumb one, but bare with me. First time going the FI route: What does tuning take care of? Everybody says thay they need to get their cars tuned properly. What are the steps of tuning? Do I just go to TS and get my ECU reflashed and I'm done? Or will I need to tune other parts?

Thanks.

you're going to need to reflash that computer to their Supercharger program... you can get new injectors in lieu of your FMU-

the NA program for the ECU has too much timing for a boosted program, especially at higher RPMS.. while your car is down for the install, send your ecu in for a reflash-

tuning typically will try to adjust your A/F ratio, and timing.

contact Technos about this and they can tell you the best route to go-

After you are tuned you will not need the FMU, I left mine on rich and then had it removed when I got there, but I was on a stock ECU, I drove 400 miles there w/o problems to get flashed after going FI I just kept my rpm's under 4k.

Don't need to send my ECU to TS. Was actually thinking of driving 30 miles down to TS. If this is unsafe, then I would tow the car down with my AAA card. The install will be done over 1 weekend and as far as I know it, TS is closed over the weekend.

BTW: I loved your car! I saw it when I was getting the reflash done last September.

Anybody know about the BOV?

You will need new PE 380 injectors if you choose to go the ECU route with the ECU reflash. Brandon at Gruppe S has the best price and is easy to work with. I just ordered mine... (510) 498-8400

You might want to up the pump and regulator as well. My setup is very lean above 5600rpms without the higher volume pump. The dfmu is useful but installing the TS flash, injectors, pump, and regulator is alot easier for the end user than always having to tune your dfmu and timing.

The BOV is OK but the sound is different than a turbo BOV. You will probably be happy with the stock BOV. I don't have one on my setup but have heard an different BOV on the ATI kit. before.

Love the sound of the greddy BOV on turbos. What is the sound that it is made by the BOV on a supercharger?

the BOV sound on superchargers will not be as loud as a turbo car simply due to the fact that most low RPM blow-offs from a turbo will be from a greater PSI than a supercharger at the same RPM level.. the more the air thru the valve, the louder it normally is.. depending on your BOV spring setting..

for a supercharger, the greddy type S is typically a little more audibly noticable... than say, an HKS SSQV or the Blitz DD...

i had the type S and it was pretty cool- i liked it. but for my turbo application i went with the HKS ..
