Does anybody know how to remove the Vortech air filter without destroying it?

Is it even posible without removing the blower?

I'd love to know this as well. Cant see any way of doing it without taking the blower assembly apart.

Vortech SC goes on within the next two weeks. While it won't stop me from installing, good information to know!

That just strikes me as kinda funny. I mean, you take in air from the front, compress it and heat it in the S/C, run the air through the IC to cool it off, and then that "cooling" air that came through the IC gets sent back into the Vortech. I mean, you're sucking in your own heat to have to cool it off again! (to use that heated cooling air again... ad infinitum)

I'm sure it works fine though, it's just the principle that makes me chuckle.

My installer came up with a similar solution except that the filter is accessible via the wheel well similar to a CAI.

Anyone know the diameter of the Vortech filter?

um, it doesnt go back into the vortech once it comes out of the IC, it goes straight into the intake. im sure thats what you meant, right?

No, he means that the air that passed through the IC to cool the intake charge is the same air that is getting taken up in through the air filter. (in that placement.)

Hey zimbo, post some pics please. I'm gonna be installing soon, and I'd like to figure this out before I start.

Has anyone thought about using the Procharger filter assembly? Looks like you might be able to use the Procharger tubing on the Vortech.

Here's the idea... some sort of 3.5" tubing from the mouth of the turbine down in into the area where a CAI filter would go. The filter they put on the end of the tubing is a 7" long K&N filter. Sorry I don't have any pictures behind the wheel well so you can see--but it basically just hangs down. Removing the filter is as easy as removing the front left wheel and pulling down the wheel well cover.

Interesting how you put your cog belt on... Instead of over the top of the tensioner pully, i'ts underneath... When vortech did my install (first official G35 kit) they put it over and i've always kept it that way..

I never thought about that! I'll have to look to see if mine will fit that way because as it is the cog belt is quite close to the intake. BTW, how tight is your cog belt?

Hmm, as mine is it's very very close to the intake tube as well.. i'd say 1/8th of an inch now... scary.

the side thats close should be the bottom part, so it wont help if you run the belt over the pulley.
