Calling GReddy Twin Turbo owners
I am having a great time on the forum reading and learning about getting our TT set ups.
I was one of the 1st to receive, and install the GReddy TT, back at the end of Dec.
Since then, I have laid low, and wanted to enjoy the TT kit, with preset boost, and learn, before attempting to up the boost.
Now that alot of GReddy TT are installed, and we are learning together how we can add ignition harness to the e-manage, to have some control over the timing, getting our fuel systems redone, to supply more fuel, it really is an exciting time, as we haven't had a GReddy TT kit (w/ emanage, 440 injectors) tuned for higher boost levels, like Jotech has done with their installs (which doesn't use the emanage) reaching 450 HP, with stock internals.
Closest, I believe, is Yancy, at just under 8lbs @ 400 HP, but is not using the e-manage alone, as he had a Technosquare ECU reflash. It was tuned by Dan at Godspeed (great guy, we talk on a regular bases)
The Good news for the people with GReddy TT (w/e-01), is once someone tunes the 350Z properly for higher boost, we can share the MAP and settings. This can be loaded in the e-01, and exported to the e-mange.
Just need someone to get it done.
Here where I live, there is no shops that are experienced tuners.
There is some a few hours away, but nothing local.
I had and idea, after reading one gg-626 posts, that maybe he would be the right person to get this done, with him living in Cali, he has alot of tuner shops in the area.
So I PM him this idea I had and asked him if he would be interested in maybe going to one of these shops that is very knowledgeable with emanage, and boost, and getting his car Dyno tuned ?
I told him, he could pass along all the info that he has collected on the forums about our cars, to the tuner. Have them tune, and then share the MAP and settings.
Then we could split the cost of the tuning.
I would be in, Derek, him, maybe 350Now, etx, mprowe350
We all the the emanage, 440 injectors, Walbro 255, FPR.
I know some of the ecu's maybe alittle different, so the results won't be exactly the same across the board.
But what we could do is this, either use my or his car.
Both have an 04, and better free flowing exhaust, which runs alittle leaner then say a 03 with Borla
If we get ours tuned correctly, the 03's will be well under safe settings
Maybe the cost would be say $600 or so to tune- $100 each, maybe less if there is more, it would offset the costs
He was not interest, as he wants to do it himself.
I personally think it should be tuned by and experience tuner, to reach optimal performance.
I have contacted a tuner that is a couple hours away, who is very well known, to see about tuning my z, and I am awaiting his reply. I am very excited, he is one of the best.
I am sure this = expensive.
So I am coming to the forum, to ask GReddy TT owners, if you would be interested in a tuned MAP and settings for higher boost, that you could downloaded into their e-mange
Aiming for the 450 HP mark.
I will wait for replies, and comments, and go from there

ACP,
I live in Bonita Springs and have been meaning to get in touch with you. I happen to have access to a first rate tuner with an in house dyno, but of course there is a catch. PM or email me and we can talk about it or schedule a time for me to stop by and check out your setup

I'm all over this...
I will have to look into the upgraded fuel system and maybe a different torque converter before tuning, but I'm very close to having the milage post install to increase my boost pressure.
edit
TT install on my car was done at 800 miles... waiting until about 3K for increase above 5psi) The new wiring harness will be on soon, so count me in.
Received your pm ACP...will forward to my shop. Thanks

Guys, lets see what the interest is for this. If there are a lot of eManage TT owners interested, I might be willing to participate to help make this thing work financially.
One caveat though. This 450hp map that the tuner develops will only be specific to that one car. So really, it becomes just a starting point for the "fine tuning" that everyone will have to do on their own. So just be prepared for that. It would be ill-advised and dangerous to just load up that MAP without further testing and tuning on each specific car.
Also, the limits of the stock fuel system on the Greddy kit are roughly 7psi at about 375whp, and that is even pushing it to the comfort limit.
To do this, EVERYONE would need to first upgrade their fuel system. Either the Spaz solution of Walbro 255 and Aeoromotive 1:1 FPR and retrun line......or the Ulitmate Racing fuel system solution.
We'd all need to have roughly the same fuel pressure at idle...and at boost....the same build and everything....in order for these results to transfer over even closely to another car. It's like, we'd all have to agree that we'll set base fuel pressure at 50psi, which is the stock level, and then a 1:1 increase as boost increases...so we end at about 58psi at redline.
Good Luck..I am all ears.

Yup, individual tweaking will still be required...but it could be a really good starting point for everyone. Maybe you just tune a tad on the rich side...for an extra margin of safety for those without straight pipes, exhuast, high flow cats...etc..etc..
Excellent, glad there is interest
Ok couple points.
As I mention in my post, and gg-626 reiterated is that this would be for those with upgraded fuel systems
GReddy ignition harness w/diodes
High Volume/Pressure Fuel Pump
and FPR
I might even be able to put a package together, to include all these, for people you want to upgrade their fuel system.
Another, as I wrote
>I know some of the ecu's maybe alittle different, so the results won't be exactly the same across the board.
Biggest thing with tuning for higher boost, is getting the A/F ratio at the right levels.
My thought is, to start with the ecu/model, with the highest A/F ratio, and has brought out in gg post here
Greddy TT--2004 ECU Warning--Must Read
The 2004 seem to be running higher A/F levels, Add on High Flowing Exhaust and cats or test pipes, (like on my04 z) this is going to be rich
So if we tune an 04 for higher boost, and get the correct A/F ratio on this, when this MAP and setting get installed on an 03, it will be in safe A/F levels
Derek (who is my neighbor) has an 03 TT with Borla exhaust. We are thinking after my tune, we can load my tuned Maps, into his e-01, and test with the tuner.
On the boost level.
I can do a few different boost levels if you would like
Like, 8, 9, 10 lbs
The tuner has contacted me back, and I have my z a part, and I am working on upgrading the fuel system. Derek's z is at the shop, getting the same thing done
I should be ready for this in a week.
So we have

Anyone else ? gg-626, 350Now, etx, mprowe350 ?

ACP, have you gotten a firm cost? Does this guy charge by the hour? $600 seems like a lot. Since he isnt starting from scratch, maybe the cost will be less....remember...he is just going to be enriching the map...not creating a new one.
I asked how much it would be to have him for the day (to come to us) and tune both our cars (mine and Dereks)
He said it would be $750 (plus we would have to pay the shop here for the Dyno runs)
If I went to their shop (couple hours away) the prices are $150 an hour for dyno tuning + $85 for 3 Dyno runs
Would rather him come here, and get him all to ourselves for the whole day, compare the charts I have now that were all done on the same dyno, and not have to drive our cars 4 hours (there and back)

Oh I see.........
If someone can recommend a shop that has zone several Z's in this area, I could check around and possibly arrange for tuning here.
ACP, I cant remember your other dyno posts comparing AF between you and derek's car. You have a 2004, and it was running leaner towards readline. Did Derek's 03 do the same thing??
There seems to be a bulding body of evidence that the 2004 ECU is running leaner than the 2003's. 350Now's was pig rich...and it was a 2003 as well.

I am in fa sho. I will also have the internals in my engine changed (pistons, rings, sleaves, cams & rods). In fact I will probably add another 10-20hp more once the wing i sremoved.

350Now is going to call XS Engineering on Monday morning and drill them on their knowledge of tuning 350Z's with an eManage. More on that later.

Yes mine runs leaner then Dereks 2003
We can tune both if you guys wish. (2003 and 2004) on the same day
We can tune 1, then load that into the 2nd z, and see how much has to be changed.
If it has to be altered, we can have a Map for the 2003 and 2004.
If we find out it doesn't need to be changed, we will just have the one Map (well a couple Maps, at different boost levels)
Here is the details of the shop I have choosen, if I would be the one getting this done.
Name is South Florida Performance
http://www.sfp.net/
The tuners name is Frank
I learned about him on a Florida message forum
Everyone on their raves about him, and says there is none in the area better
Here is just one of the many posts on him
http://www.importspeed-south.com/for...ead.php?t=7135
I hope this works out
Sure would save each of us about $500 +

Not sure yet. I want to see how it turns out with Max's result. I'm leaning towards the 255 w/ FPR though.

Then help out with getting the tuned MAP

The more we get, the less it will cost each of us
Don't know if anyone on the list above, has the fuel pump and fpr installed yet
This is something you will help us get, so when you are ready to upboost, you have a tuned MAP
