so, does adjusting the topnut NOT fix the leak (and subsequent screeech!)

thanks

SORRY if i gave bad advice....... (maybe the G is dif. than the Z stab bar?)

i am still unsure of what to do here........

if i put my index finger infront of the outlet, the shrilling ceases....

it seems all is working fine, but that the shape (horn) of the bov creates an aweful shrill at about 900rpm (thru 1400 or so)....
'
its too loud to be acceptible.... (spent alot of personal time thinking on this today) i just am sure of this.... (ntm, the vortech i heard sat. was dead silent in regards to the BOV)

i need a solution that will work...

do i need to buy a different bOV?? ifso, what type (saw several at my local speedshop, type S and type R's)

is the mount the same for them all?

my ears are still ringing...

Make sure your intake pipe is not touching the back side of the blower .Mine was really loud and the shop said that that tubing , if touching any part of the blower will resonate the sound of the blower really bad . He stuck a piece of thick hose between the pipe and the blower and it quieted down quite a bit . When idling I took a long skinny piece of wood down in front of my BOV not touching it and it seemed to go away too .So I want to check to see if mine is leaking also . I think I will take off the plastic cover thing off from under the car and put my hand on it and have some one rev the car up .See if it working right

good idea....

i thkin ima partially block the opening, top divert the airstream... this seems to stop the shrilling......

but still, why is there escaping air at 900 rpm?? this CANNOT be correct.....

i hope tomorrow has answers (and from the excellent support at vortech too)

sms

ps- turning the screw 2 turns in either direction did absolutely nothing for this...

i was revving it up (while on the lift)

they SM was checking it out, and yes, i believe there is a noticable amount of air expelling.....

the valve STILL seems to work just fine when you juice it up hard; its something i am not sure at all about really....

i am frustrated

my SM has been in contact with V-support thruout the install process.....

let me just say this, V-support has been VERY on the ball, and helpful with everytthing. When we were missing a small part, it was here the next day, NO questions asked....

V-support has told us to try adjusting the stopnut, and also tld us about changing the spring inside (guess that idea is now on hold too)... V-support also told us we could swap out the BOV for a bypass valve, but at the cost of performance, i guess..... i am not willing to do this, as there are many others that have made this work, with far less aggrevation too....

now, i am thinking the bov is defective, as it is soo stinkin loud that it is embarassing..... there's NO WAY this is designed as such (it is about 15 X louder than the rest of the entire car, combined)...

so much for the SUPER QUIET v-2 blower... lol.. but really, this blower is SOOO QUIET and runs smooth as glass!! (much, much quieter than my former v-1)... i hope to be able to hear it in action, over the shrill, its not possible, im afraid

i know V-support must be getting sick of hearing from us, but we are still learning also.... i hope to have better news tomorrow..

thas all for today, i think

samco and nismo LT installed below..........

got her back today......

whoa nelly...........

good and bad abound!!!

i really need some help w/ the BOV setup......

can anyone lend their ear???

you can call collect, or i'll ring you direct......

i have gone from shrilling phissshh.... to a stumble-bumble fluttering sound (more compressor sound though..., that i like!)

right now, i have it 1/8" out, as the vortech instructions state, but it gives a real 'sequential flutter sound, that is VERY VERY loud...

with the thread the other way, it shrills and shrills, with little (if none) compressor sound at all... weird, really....

should i just get the bypass valve, that has no associated noise??

help me please!!

i have a full eval. to give soon too...

NOTHER UPDATE:::

i removed the BOV that came with the kit, and installed another (vortech branded ) one....

the shrilling sound is gone.....

100% gone

now it sounds like a BOV, with sealing and releasing going on.....

thank god thats over with.....

the BOV seal was defective, causing an insane shrilling 'whistle' to happen..... THIS IS NOT as designed, and shouldnt be accepted as such....

im pulling 7lbs of boost now, and next week is dyno test and tuning.....

for somereason, it feels stronger than yesterday.....

I, too, am glad that horrible noise is gone! And, it probably feels better today because you're more comfortable running it hard now!

Congrats- glad to be a part of this project and seeing it turn out so darn nice!

JOHN!!

glad to see you're here!!!

last nite i added the homebrew filter end, and wow!!! you gotta hear this thing now... its sounds like an oem s/c setup!!! its ideal, and still somewhat stealth (well, not to anyone that knows anything...lol)

i am glad we've forged a business relationship (aside from the fact we share alot of personal attributes).... i think i can help relate to the tampabay area my experience...... (being 1.X miles from the dealership will also help me 'stop by' if you have a serious potential customer...

next up:: fujitsubo full ctaback, crawford cat, 1lb pulley upgrade, and full - out dyno mapping.....

the major hump is over with, however.... (i look forward to the next one you do, and hope to be of some help!)

So glad to see you happy about this whole thing...

Stop by later and let me check out the new noise level...... wink-wink (translates to: high speed, high boost pass down US 19)! LOL....
