Forced Induction comparsion
Here is a graph of 4 different Cars with 3 different forms of FI. It gives a good idea of the power curves and how the cars will drive. This is just a way that someone could compare the different kits currently on the market that people are using. These dynos are what i would call middle of the road for each setup and represent the results you could expect yourself (No high number freak cars) Also I tried to find a stock setup for the vortech (no exhaust work) but could not find it.
**Warning this data has been take from Dynos posted on the form from different people, cars, dynos you can not split hairs with this information***
Car 1 Has the stillen stage 2 kit with I/C at 6 psi
Car 2 Has Vortech kit on car with full exhaust and stock pulley(8psi) tuned
Car 3 Has Greddy kit on stock car at 5 psi
Car 4 Has Greddy kit 8psi full exhaust
I have to say that The stillen car doesn't show the low end TQ the would be the highlight of that kit.

Very interesting graphs, thanks for posting them!!!!!
Kinda hard to see the differences though, would love to see them larger with a grid. Interesting that the greddy and vortech are rated at the same 8psi, but at the redline, the greddy is still producing more rwhp. 8psi is 8psi, but the graph doesn't show that at the redline.
Also interesting that the stillen at 6psi is still producing more low end torque than the vortech at 8psi. Stillen is better low, vortech is better high, as we all know.

The Greddy kit at 8psi does indeed rock. Of course, it requires significant outside-the-box work and costs a whole lot more than the Vortech at 8psi so it should.
All of these kits are good--but all of these kits have significant room for improvement.

The numbers on the tuned Vortech with full exhaust seem kind of low to me. My car bone stock with no mods stock 8psi pully put down 350 RWHP with no tuning. With some tuning still running very rich it put down 371 RWHP and 336 TQ.
yeah, like he said, different cars different dynos, it really doesnt make sense to have debates on which system performs better, if somebody could install all the systems on the same car and then dyno each individually that would paint a better picture, but too many variables come into play. cars are different, dynos are different, environmental factors, price, etc... like zimbo said they all are good systems and all could benefit from a little work.
who's 8psi run....it looks sorta like mine...which isnt really representative of the 8psi setting. Remember that my HP peaked at 5400rpm becuase I pulled too much timing, and I had an exhuast leak. Look for spzpilot or a few other Greddy peeps that have dynos at 8psi...properly tuned...should be at or above 400hp...FYI. And you wont see that dip in power shown above.
i have vortech graphs, WITHOUT exhaust wokr (v5 plenum only)... i also have b-4 and after tuning....
my question is, after spending over 5K on an aftermarket part, who would decide to NOT tune it and get it dialed in??? Does anyone like to run way too rich, or without proper ignition considerations (in relation to boost and rpm)???
i cant see that, but understand the "out of the box" comparisons.....
im sure no one with TT (back me up here GQ?) goes thru the efforts of install ands setup, only to leave it as-is, and not finetune their hardware and software to the motor's specific needs (most of us FI guys are intereted in executable power, i think)
heres my graph, btw (tuned, oem exhaust, chassis dyno)
(engine NOT heatsoaked for the higher numbers)

I guess you have a point there. The comparisons are highly subjective, due to the variations in cars and tuning. But directionally, I think they are useful.
I think everyone wants a highly tuned car, but sometimes it takes time to fully refine the numbers.....even for a very skilled competent tuner. Also, it seems like the Vortech is more in need of post-install tuning at the base settings. The Greddy kit is rich, but not as rich as the stock Vortech kit....and even with perfect tuning, people are only getting 10-15hp more at the same boost level out of the box. I have seen gains of 50hp on the Vortech kit with proper tuning.

The Greddy 8psi run is Yancy's his numbers were 404whp and 380 rwtq. He had RT's on which is what I guessing limited the top end vs. a test pipe set up. After looking at all the Greddy dynos 8psi should put you at 400whp +- 10hp with a proper setup.

The whole point of this was to show the "feel" of the different kits. I all was seeing were people asking how much power does this or that kit make. But that has little with the way the kit feels when your driving it.
Even in this thread poeple posted that they were suprised of the difference at 8psi between the kits. especialy in TQ. But a centrifcal charger doesn't make 8psi but for the second your shifting so the TQ will always be low compared to a Roots or Turbo set up they have full boost right away. Alot of poeple don't know or realize what that does for the power curve. Here on the graph you can see the results clearly.

The Vortech on this was tuned, is that what you were talking about? The Vortech is much less effected by exhaust mods vs the Greddy kit.
Thanks for the feedback!

ememes, in some locations, qualified tuners of the Vortech kit are hard to come by. I know in my local area, there are none that I am aware of that can tune the SS box, and that is the main thing keeping me from the Vortech for right now.
That would be what I call a "freak car" most Vortech kits @8psi put out 350rwhp +-10hp tuned with stock exhaust. Congrats!
I'm not sure I agree with the overall numbers represented in the graphs 7-eleven displayed, but I think the shape and peaks to the curves are pretty dead on. Should help folks decide what kit to buy depending on where they want their power to be most prevalent.
I also think the GReddy kit can always be made to be the best of this group, but on a dollar for dollar comparison, you can get as much or more power out of the Vortech... that's the reason I chose to put it on my Z!

thas when the season is at its best (i prefer FL winters)!!
and yes, MCduck is the superfreak vortech owner...... i only hope to get similar torque......
