Default almost got the car running... pics of BOVs and Radiator

Sorry for the poor pics... for some reason lately this camera is taking really dark pics... i thinks its got a problem with the operator.

Here it is with the bumper back on, just a little trimming and it was able to clear the IC no problem and without removing the grill.

Really poor pic because since the radiator is polished it is reflecting black... but if you look close you can see it. It seems to be about 3 times thicker than the stock one. It is a Stillen radiator... my ratings:
FIT:7/10 - Really hard car to do this well with, had to trim the fan shroud just a hair to get it fit right.
Appearance: 10/10 - Once installed you just see the polished upper tank.
Quality: 8.5/10 - I have seen nicer, but its function is perfect, just could have had a few less bent fins - not that you can see ANY of them once installed.
Would I buy it again: YES.

Twin HKS BOV's... Why 2? Cause I like the way Mike's 300ZX sounds with 2.

THanks for looking,
Charles

thanks guys!

Just got done working on it for the night. Just got to fill it up with all the fluids and connect the steering shaft... then I can fire it up.

After that its time for the electronics install, and fuel system install.

Also, the Volks were FINALLY shipped out... so the 19's and the Stoptechs should go on next week....

The sideskirts were shipped out, trying to find a Top Secret Diffuser in stock if you know anyone. Want to get the body work done in a few weeks.

Also, tommarow I am finally ordering up the pistons and rods for the sleeved block so I can get the short block all completed. I still want to try and get the new motor in there this year. Its gonna depend mostly on time availability to work on it.

hey PHUNK-

can you weigh (or approximate) the weight of the volk19 (width = ??) versus the oem wheels???

i am trying to desperately goto 19's but will not stand to add weight (including the performance robbing rotating mass)

-eS

ps- running the 18" infiniti 18's w/ stocker tread

[[[sorry for the hijack]]]

Hey phunk, measure that blue air filter sitting on your car in the top pic, if you get a chance. Us Vortech owners need a better filter! Specifically, how tall is it (from flange to the top), what's the overall diameter, and what is the diameter of the flange.

Oh yeah, and the kit looks great, too! I bet you can't wait to finish!

Phunk:

Can you take a lot of photo's on the Install of the EMS?
.. And explain to us the advantages?

Inquiring minds want to know..
P.S. Saturday's dyno day, I dyno'ed my Stock 350 as a refference.
Stock the car was awsum to hear at 135mph. Great fun.

Sharif's Z was pretty quiet on the rollers, running twin turbo's
it came up to speed quicker, but a smooth 377whp - It has manifold leaks and an "iffy" clutch... All 15 owners were sure the
dyno was low about 9 percent. It had been moved about three blocks a couple of weeks ago..

A loaded question.. The dyno print out of GQ_626 was very wavy
above 3000rpm.. The power was there, but just zig-zag..

Have you seen this before?
Options:
Marginal clutch
Manifold leaks
E-Manage pulling timing, competing with ECU logic?
Some other reason that we have not thought of?

Cheers Amy -

Default Oh yeah, ride in a Greddy TT

Oh yeah my ride in an improved Greddy TT.

I was at Tony's ( Wld350Z ) to night.. He had installed a set of used RT cat's ( about 4000 miles old ) Thanks Sharif !!

The Greddy TT bolts were examined and all were found to be still tight... Waste Gates manifolds etc. He buttoned it up.. No leaks

Note: If you buy a Helix test pipe kit - Do not - Repeat Do not use
the bolts provided.. They are very very soft... Get number 8 replacements.. Then throw the Helix provided bolts away...
They are not good enough for bolting storage racks together.

Or send them collect back to Helix.

Any way,,,, the car with the RT cats showed a few odd issues.. When cold they feel like they were loading down the engine.. After they warmed up 10 min.. It was like they burned off the coke on them..
After about 15min.. The car was tested hard.

I was thrown back in the seat first, second and third gear. Second gear showed the car needed bigger rear tires than the 275/35/19's as traction was lost and the throttle feathered.

Each gear the car the car went to redline too fast. Shifts were
pregnant pauses, in an otherwise enjoyable run. I'd like a taller rear gear.. but thats another story.. 1/4 mile people vs Road course people...

B&M Hydro anyone? Sorry - I'm old school john...

Cheers Amy -

Cane: I will try and get you those measurements tommarow when i get back to the shop.

Amy: I take so many pictures that its rediculous. From this point on we will be filming most of the work on the car for a video of the building, tuning, racing, burnouts, etc. During the video I may even interview myself to describe why we did what we did and the point of everything done.. I am not sure exactly how detailed it will be tho.

Once the car is done, on my website I will be making a very specific section just for this car so people can see it all inside and out.

As for the problems with the wavy dyno graph, it could be all the above you listed... but there is a seperate thread going on in here for that.

I don't have the sizes ... But on a trip to the Kragen Auto Store..

Might have a different name in your area..

They had the same Filter on the shelf. For $24.95 each..

Ask where the Rice Accessories are at? Ha !

Hey GQ....SHUT UP! And what the hell is a "kragen"? All we have is Discount, Pep boys, Advance, that's about it.

I tried to find and buy an airinx filter down here in the land of 2 fast and 2 furius, but I don't know enough of the rice shops! I couldn't find one anywhere that had any air filters in stock. I found a place that had a greddy dealer catalog, but it only gave the flange diameter and then "small" or "large".

I did manage to purchase an APC "black chrome" fire extinguisher, though. Just so I can have a little rice! (or just in case some of my wiring burns up, or my fuel lines hit the header, or .......gotta stop worrying!)

not that anyone here needs reminding, but .......

the off-brand filters (assorted colors) DO flow MORE air than the k&n, airhogger, etc, but they do so at an added risk.....

id stay clear of the cheapie ones for that reason alone (even if you clean it regularly, it still will allow more particles to pass thru)

i agree but the one he got was an HKS Mega Flow are something like that. Either way I prefer a regular cone filter but sometimes you have to compromise for fitment.

The Greddy intercooler is just massive!! Beautiful. Gotta get a larger opening bumper.

Oh, and want to know if the Airinx Filter will fit the vortech also.
