Bogger

My guess is that you need to change a setting in your hardware management that allows your computer to see your USB port like a serial port. I am not exactly sure how you would do this. If you don't get an answer from anyone on the forum, then call Vortech on Monday.

If for some reason they tell you this method will not work. Then, tell them all the different ports you have on your laptop so they can suggest a different solution. I assume you have more than just a USB port on your laptop?

Vortech isn't going to know this, nor should they be responsible for laptop tech support.

Two things to remember:

(1) The ignition must be "almost on" as in turned to the last key position prior to actually starting the car.

(2) You must specify the COM port in the R4 software. It will not scan your COM ports. My USB-toSerial connector sometimes connects as COM5, sometimes as COM6. So I have to try various COM settings to connect.

I was not suggesting that Vortech WAS “responsible for laptop tech support.” However, since it is their software and they may very well have encountered this issue before, then they may have a quick answer.

I wasn't trying to be a PIA, I was simply clarifying that it's not Vortech's software. It's SplitSecond software.

I got connected to the ECU and changed my settings and finished the timing maps .It shifts GREAAAAAAAAT right at 7,000rpm [by the last time at dyno would be 6,800rpm] Im I happy or what ????? Zimbo...I loaded your timing and took a little more timing out way up top [7,000 to 8,000 rpms] to be a little safer . Thanks every one for helping . There is no dead spot when shifting , and shifts strong .......ZImbo.... I loaded the settings....3,000 OR 2.5 PSI....and made sure they were still there before writing to the ECU . But when I opened the file and read what was on the ECU to save the file ...it came up 3,000 or 7 psi.....Just like when I open your file....DO you know why it does this ?

Be careful......your A/F is going to be off...as you are in different cells in your A/F map. My A/F was all over the place both pig rich and lean after the pulley change
