My dyno guy tees off of the boost tubing that goes into the SS box. He's alway read a little low compared to my boost gauge and the SS box--but what surprised me a little was an across the board reduction due to the headers. My boost gauge has been fussy lately but I've just rewired the tubing so I'll go out right now for a little drive and report back.

FYI::

I TRIED TO get the cogger pulley, but had alot of trouble finding someone there whoi knew what cog (and extended bolt/spacer) would work...

if you go 287, the 92.3" belt is aces!

Well, my boost gauge is working now (it wasn't during the dyno session) and I'm back to my original belief that--at least according to my own gauge and the SS box--I did not lose any measurable amount of boost due to the addition of the aftermarket headers. The EGTs are lower, the car is louder, my HP and torque curves seem smoother, but I'm not at all sure why my dyno guy was seeing less boost. I don't see that at all.

You do NOT need a new belt with the 34-tooth cog pulley, but you do need a longer bolt because the pulley is thicker. I can tell I'm going to need to dig up the invoice for the good of the forum.

Thanks, Steve... all is clear now.

Folks, there is no 34-tooth pulley in the same width as what comes stock with the Vortech kit. We have in the kit is part 2A033-032 which is 35mm wide. There is no 2A033-034.

Zimbo has added part 2A032-034 which is a 50mm wide pulley. Sounds like it works fine, but as he has pointed out, you will need a longer bolt.

ZIMBO... thanks for the info. Did you have any clearance issues because the pulley is wider?

mcduck, I've been meaning to return your call. Sorry 'bout that. PM me your availability and I'll call you.

I did indeed have clearance issues initially because the bolt on the back of the pulley would rub against the intake tube when the engine rocked upward during WOT. Since the bolt spins (obviously), it started eating a hole in the tube.

Luckily, I noticed the problem in time and replaced the bolt washer with a thinner washer, thereby giving extra clearance between the bolt and the intake tube. However, you may not have this problem because the fitment of the Vortech on the G35 sedan is tighter than on the 350z so this may only be a problem for those of us with the 4-door handicap

To install the 34-tooth pulley, I had to loosen several of the bolts on the main bracket so as to be able to pull the whole assembly toward the front bumper enough to make room to slip the pulley in behind. Hope that makes sense.

greddy...
You can order that pulley from Vortech or one of their authorized resellers. Once Zimbo confirmed his pulley is wider than the regular one, it all clicked into place. That is the part number for the 50mm 34-tooth pulley. The jackshaft diameter and key should be the same size.

Zimbo...
not to worry... I think we have the info I needed sorted out now.

All...
I think if you go with the 34-tooth pulley, the thing to do would be to pull the original Jack Shaft bolt out, go to local fastner shop or hardware store and tell them you need the same thing only 15mm longer. That's the difference in width between the stock 32-tooth pulley and the 50mm 34-tooth pulley.

Ordering pulley this weekend. Thanks for the help everybody!

Thank Guys for posting your boost levels . I am going to call Vortech and see if they will listen . As I do think that my blower is weak . I will end up getting the 2.87 pulley and hopefully make 8lb's
