I went out today to put on the new pulley . Got it all done and started the motor...and a horrible sound came from the engine bay . I shut it off and looked for some thing wrong .I saw metal shavings under the new pulley .I took it of and inspected it. Noticed on the side of the pulley that faces the rear of the car was all chewed up as was the part of the jackshaft that the pulley rested up against . I compared it to the 3.125 pulley and seen that the lip that rested up against the jackshaft was not as long as the 3.125 . So the outer rim that faces to the rear was rubbing up against the jackshaft assembly . I need to call Vortech , if the thing needed a washer they never said any thing . I dont think it does . Who else besides Eseme [Scott] has put on this pulley ? Any problems with it ? Did it need a washer ?
booger,
Sorry to hear about your problem. Keep us posted on your progess. I suspect I will be upgrading to this pulley in the future.
Thanks for pioneering this level of performance for us Vortech guys.

It wouldnt be lined up with the other pulleys then . The side that faces out towards the front of the car has a much longer lip or what ever you wanna call it

I really dont think that its should have one. I think this pulley isnt with in spec . But I'll find out Monday . It does have the right part number on it though
ALL the 6 rib pulleys should have the same offsett-distance on the stem....
if the neck/stem on this one is different, its gotta be wrong (genius thought from me, eh?)
i would speak only to steve (i gave you his contact info, right??) and have them O/N a new one...
i just pray that this didnt cause any damage to the jackshaft internals... (you'll know fairly easily if it has, by the sounds it will make)
sorry to hear this has been rough.... i never woulda thought to check my pulleys, cept when the first one i got was damaged, i aligned it with the others... and so on (now checking them alll the time..)
call me if you need anything

heres
compare the profile of the 333 and the 287
put them on a flat table, neck down, and snap a pic......
the groves should line up PERFECTLY....
im betting they dont, as the stem must be too short

I did a recheck with the stock pulley . The grooves line up , but the outter edges on the 2.87 are thicker .If I lay them side by side on the table , you can see why it dont work right
