Vortech SC FMU
Vortech SC installation complete. TS performed "L" Flash. Split Second R4 Program being used. Numerous dyno runs performed, however there is still a problem.
To the best of my knowledge I have the only Vortech SC in Albuquerque, New Mexico (Elev. 5094 feet). That in itself is some, if not all the problem.
I am running "rich" after 4500 rpm's. Up until about 4500 rpm's A/F is 11.0 to 11.5. Then it steadily goes to low 10's, even high 9's. R4 has done ALL it can do.
Vortech has suggested changing the "washer" within the FMU. The current "washer" is a #8 for 24 pound injectors. They recommend going to #6 or #4. Does anyone have a Vortech SC, lets say in the Denver area or high elevation areas that has experienced this problem?
Change "washer" or is there another recommendation?

Being at that elevation....you've got me on what to do .I would take Vortechs suggestion . When you say that you've done all you can do with the R4 . Do you mean you've put all the cells at 0 ? to take out fuel as much as possible ? The S.S. ...R4 software is very tunable .But at 5,000 feet who knows

Probably 10-12 dyno pulls with R4. Pulled/added timing/fuel and got changes, but upper end is still rich. SAE corrected values are:
Max Power = 337.1
Max TORQUE = 278.3
A/F ratio at 4500 rpms = 12.0 / 5000 rpms = 11.5 / 5500 rpms = 10.2 / 5700 rpms to 6200 rmps = 10.0 / 6350 rpms = 10.4 and at 6500 rpms = 11.0
Thoughts?

Are you sure that this is not simply an issue of using the R4 software incorrectly? Don't get me wrong, I'm just trying to make sure.
A few questions (not meant to be condescending but rather not wanting to make any assumptions):
(1) Do you (or your tuner) have your Options | System Settings for the Display mode set to Vacuum / Pressure?
(2) Did you remember to actually upload the changes you made in the maps to the SS box?
(3) Did you confirm that your Aux pump settings are correct prior to uploading any changes (ie. Options | Output settings dialog set to Over RPM of something like 3000 rpms and Over Boost set to something like 2.5 psi)?
To be honest, if you are making changes to the map but not seeing the A/F go up then it sounds like you are changing the entries in the wrong place on the map.
