Default Vortech Oil Consumption

2003 G35 Coupe
Total 7000 miles on car
500 miles on Engine after S/C install. 200 of which were on track.
Oil usage 1 1/2 Qt.
This doesn't sound normal.

Suggestions appreciated!

If you have changed the maps at all , they will not be helpful . I dont think it the blower that is causing the problem .It looks like they [ Nissan ] put out some bad engines . I heard of others without a SC or TT using oil . Its a bummer because Vortech and Nissan will blame each other . Or Vortech will say you changed the maps . Good luck...let us know how it works out....Bill

Will do.

BTW - Nothing was changed by the installer or me from the basic setup that came with the S/C.

Another thought. If you have been pushing it hard on the track .You might want to change oil in it . See if it uses oil after that . If I was tracking mine and running it hard....I would change oil after every time at the track....bill

Good advice. Thanks. Have been changing every 1000 miles due to heavy track use. Was changed when S/C installed. Mobile 1 Syn.

Your engine is likely experienceing poor compression due to damaged or improperly seated piston rings. Even at the track, your car shoudnt be consuming that much oil in 500 miles.

I would suggest doing an immediate compression and leak down test to assess the condition of your motor. As mentioned, there were some documented gases of new N/A motors burning up due to high oil consumption. Compression should be between 160-210 in all cylinders..higher the better.

Did your car experience oil consumption prior to the Vortech install? Keep us posted on the compression test results...thats the only way to know for sure. I assume you have already check underneath the car for leaks...
