Default My vortech s/c dyno results...

I just recently had the vortech s/c unit and JWT cams installed on my 03 35oz A/T. The car already had nismo headers, Labree Motorsports test pipes, and Borla TD exhaust. My installer was able to get a hold of the R4 software and after tuning the car rather conservatively, the car put down 369.5whp and 289tq on the dyno. Just thought I would post that. Many people have been wondering how much power you can get with the vortech with proper tuning. The car put down 330whp before tuning and the R4 software. I plan on getting the 3.12 pulley, and tuning the car more aggressively, hoping for 390whp. The car, overall, could not be running better. AND it does shift in auto mode which completely surprised me, although I do drive it in manual mode all the time. The shifts, however, in manual mode are still slow and when going to redline it REALLY bounces off the rev limiter. Im gonna need a valve vody upgrade and T/C in the future. Another point: Im definitely not getting full boost, maybe 6lbs but thats it. Im thinking with how much I have opened up the airflow after the engine with open exhaust, headers, and test pipes, I have eliminated a lot of necessary back pressure, which I believe it keeping me from 8lb boost. We'll see what the pulley does, and maybe I'll switch to the crawford cats. Thats it for now. The car is fast as **** though.

I would go with the Crawford . I had RT cats and could only get 7lb' of boost . I put on the 3.12 pulley and got 7.6 . I got rid of the gutted RT's and put on the Crawfords......guess what...8.9lb's of boost . My torque numbers were about the same as yours . Im going Tuesday to retune . Im hopen for much more torque from the increased back preasure . I think this motor need some back pr. to get the most out of it .

Hey aron,

Did you baseline dyno with just the cams or even before the cams and SC??? Also, did go with the JWTs over the NISMOs because of the SC or were the NISMO cams ever in the running?? Finally, what's the idle like with the cams - did you have to raise the limiter?? Any lope??

Thanks for the info,

Chris

Luanda, i did not do a baseline with just the cams and I went JWT b/c they have a great reputation with the Z's and they were a bit cheaper than the nismo's. I didnt know that I would be goinf FI however when I bought them. The car does idle very low, and I havent gotten the rev limiter raised yet, although I do plan on it. If I rev the engine hard at idle, the car will end up just shutting off at times. It will restart right away. Im prett sure the cams are causing this.

Alberto,
Altered Atmosphere Motorsporrts did my cam and s/c install. They did an excellent job and were able to hook me up with the R4 software as well as 4 killer apexi guages. They tuned it nicely and I have had no problems yet whatsoever.

Although tonight, on the way home from work in Silver Spring, I ran over a nail and my left front tire went flat on the way to Baltimore. With my wheel lock on that wheel, and the wheel key being completely stripped, I have no idea what to do. Lucjily my sister bailed me out with a ride home. But i have no idea what to do now. Does anybody know how to get a new wheel lock key made. I asked one dealership and they told me that I would have to call corporate nissan for this, but that may take weeks. I NEED HELP HERE! Anybody. I need to know how to get this damn wheel lock of my car so I can get my tire replaced. Any ifo would be greatly appreciated.

Aaron

Aron

I was at an automobile parts store.. On the shelf with the
wheel locks was a Universal Wheel Lock remover..

A black Iron ( Hardened I guess ) socket with tapered teeth on the inside..

Looks like you hammer this tool in over your wheel lock, then pray
you have enough bite to remove your wheel lock..

If the last mechanic used a tourqe wrench ( 80 lb )to install
your wheels instead of an Air Gun.. Impact Wrench. You may be lucky..

Amy

P.S. That tool may chip the paint inside the wheel...
