03_PPW350Z, we have made so many changes to the z it is hard to remember exact #'s. but if memory serves me correctly we ran about 9 pounds of boost with the 440's with stock fuel pressure.

Damn...

Those are VTC codes, if your cam timing isn't working as expected. Do you have a check engine light?

I'm wondering if JWT accomodates the variable cam timing in their cam grind. Maybe they're wrong for this high flow boosted application.

Just a shot in the dark though.

I know this old, but I just read something that supports the 18Gs are out of breath theory. In the Nov '04 Turbo&High-Tech Performance a SP Engineering 3.0L Supra running TWIN TD05H-18Gs put down 577whp and then when they kept turning them up to attempt to break 600whp, they failed simultaneously on the dyno. Again, this is a 3.0L vs. the 350Z 3.5L, which needs even more airflow, but should make more whp/wtq at lower settings.

Just for future reference when the CRAZY people here need more, they got TWIN TD06L2 20G 8cm^2 turbos and hit 666whp/551lb-ft torque and later 690whp, 789whp/625wtq(100-octane), and 801whp/633wtq(104-octane).

Next, they knew the 801whp was the limits of the TWIN 20Gs and that the HKS 3.4L stroker kit they were now installing would need more airflow. So, they installed TWIN HKS GT3240 dual ball-bearing 0.87 A/R rated at 580hp each. At 1.3 bar(wastegate spring each), they got 774whp on C-16 gas, 1.58bar = 818whp, 1.85bar= 952whp, 2.0bar = 1013whp, and at 2.18bar = 1031whp they maxed out the 1000cc injectors. Finally, they added a pair of secondary 1000cc injectors for 1333cc/cylinder using the F-CON V Pro to reach 1076whp/787.6lb-ft wtq.

Nice post IceY2K1Max. SGP used some Tomei 268 cams on their built 350Z and it is hitting 600+ rwhp on 18 psi. But i agree, anything more and it will become very difficult.

The 18g's should have no probelms blowing 650hp or more. THe problem could likely be in the flow characteristics of the head, upper and lower plenum, and/or piping. But based on the fact that the 18G's hits its peak efficiency in the 20-25psi range, it stands to reason that there could be some other law of dimenisioning returns at work...something other than the turbo itself.

hi guys, just wanted to give an update. after further research i believe, as ice stated above, that the 18g's are the primary problem. we are currently rebuilding these units. we pulled the engine and are currently having the wide body kit installed. once our clutch, turbos, and bodykit are complete we will head to the dyno and update as soon as possible. thanks again for all the info.- jason
