Default F/I and emissions testing......

Who has some real info on this? I just read yesterday that in the Northeast (where I am) OBD based emission control tesing has just been instituted. Basically they test emissions functions by tapping into the data stored in the OBD computer. Now....I just ordered my HKS supercharger and am hoping that all OBD functions and any data of actual emissions will still allow me to pass inspection. If not...no supercharger for me. I really don't care about CARB per se, just the actual emissions. Anyone care to comment? I was SO excited yesterday when I ordered my SC, now I'm a little worried.

If the entire test is just an OBDII, consider yourself lucky. The visual inspection is really what gets us...and sometimes the sniffer test, if you are running test pipes.

I wouldnt worry if its just an OBDII scan. Just make sure your car isnt throwing off any codes. There is also something called "readiness codes". And if your car has two or more of those things on, then you fail the test automatically...even though the readiness codes dont usually throw a CEL.

To this day, I still dont know exactly how to check the readiness codes or how to reset them. I am hoping this is something that can be done with the consult II.

Not only will their kit pass emissions testing in all 50 states, but is HAS received CARB approval and they are just waiting for their number to be issued. This is, of course, with stock cats.

When I originally posted my concerns, I hadn't been able to speak with anyone at HKS. I re-posted after I did.
