Why are they not a good design?? Seems to improve cooling, but still strengthen the block.

Phunk, who did you sleeve install, and what kind of sleeves did they use?

Ive never seen them in person but heard the top of the sleeves are thicker and reduce the amount of water that can flow between the water jacket and the heads. Silversellout made a post a few weeks back on this topic and how Darton might have copied AEBS design originaly but where forced to change it after AEBS threaten with a lawsuit.

george said they made 1100rwhp on the dyno last week with very basic mods. the stock sleeves won't last long at that hp level though. ask them how many motors they're having aebs sleeve for they're pro rwd car.

people need to stop asking how much hp the stock sleeves can handle. there is no specific quantity. you can't just worry about the stock cylinder walls cracking, the bore can distort out of round, the cylinders can shift along the piston thrust angle, the tops of the cylinder walls can lose their perpendicularity to the deck, etc., etc. there are so many different things that can happen to an engine when you apply stress to it. it's simple, a stock block is strong, a the sleeved block is stronger. it's up to every person to decide whether or not it's worth it to them to sleeve their block.
