Rayden you don't need to build the Z engine to run good power (around 400WHP) as long as the engine is tuned safely for the fuel octame you're using..............I've run an 11.97 in my Z with a dead stock engine and clutch (slipping clutch) though if you can afford stronger con rods, well all the better.

yeah ok- phunk is running almost flat 12 with 467rwhp and upgraded clutch...and around 400 hp youre running 11.97 with a slipping clutch You must be a N.H.R.A. driver. Good going if you did hit those numbers.
What are you running? Good driving btw.

The first install of an APS kit in the States, no real tuning, stock 91 Map the car made a little under 400 whp (mustang dyno) and ran 12.1 @114mph on Drag Radials in a heavy car... So I guess with a little tuning 11.97 is just not possible

Still Confused?

Jason, I ran a 12.1 missing 5th gear at the end back when i only had 435rwhp with my only mods being greddy kit, test pipes, borla duals, and a walbro fuel pump.

With 467rwhp I was able to taken down several 11 second cars in street races and highway races, but unfortunatly I didnt spend enough time at the track to prove what my car had in it.

My car had heavy 14" brakes on it, full interior, full tank of gas... and it would have gone mid 11's had i played my cards right.

also for reference, that day i ran many 12.1, but they were not with as good of launches... the reason I always refer to my car has going 12.1 with a missed gear is because that run was my best 12.1 out of all the 12.1s, and it happened with a better launch and of course i actually did miss the gear. i hate to sound like such a bench racer but its really all i can say in attempt to give my car as close to as much credit as it deserved.

turbonetics kit? i dunno, gotta see that in person. there are too many ways to do a single turbo wrong and i am not sure there is even a way to do it right in this car... so i want to see it first hand before i comment on anything... if it wasnt a reputable company doing it i wouldnt even go near it... but since its Turbonetics i am gonna be open minded and make judgement when i get my hands on one or at least encounter a car with it.

I’m not crazy about a single turbo design on a V or Flat 6. If the Z had an inline motor, that would be a different story, even then I like quick spool up… I’m sure tubonetics will make a quality product; they are it in drag racing.

As far as “half the price”??? Let’s let the kit hit the streets… You may find that labor charges may be less or similar, and you may need a thing or two before you are done…

On the APS kit I have labor quotes raging from 1800-3000 from authorized dealers…
