Any Thoughts? Anything I should know about?

start with an air/fuel guage first. Unless you have your own dyno machine. The change in seasons was enough to throw my a/f ratio from 11.8 up to 13.5 which was dangerously lean.

check your oil very often.

can you do forged internals first ?

of course, going faster means you need to stop better, so get you some big brakes.

and of course an exhaust to help increase airflow...

The ATI kit alone is not complete. The first and most important issue is retarding the timming at higher rpms. The J&S Safeguard or even the Emanage will do just fine. Id get a boost gauge to help insure there are no boost leaks. Id also consider a EGT guage for added safety on the motor. Get a oil catch can or 2 so there is no oil goiong back into the intake. Oil will reduce the effectivness of the intercooler and lower the octane rating of the gas you are running. Both of these will increase the chance of detonation a bit. Assuming the tuner sets your A/F just right across the board, this should be all you will need. You might want to get a seperate tune, one for winter and one for summer, so you can change the DFMU according to the temperture. Otherwise, you might want to get a Wideband O2 gauge too.

Thanks!
Ok I would be getting WB02 and the J&S.
Anything else I need to know about. WHat can I do to help MAKE SURE I dont blow a motor!
Is $3,100.00 fair for a used one (8,000 miles) with these two pieces included?
I thought it sounded very reasonable and I am about to purchase it.
Please respond ASAP!

EnronExec how do you like yours!?

You forgot to mention that the install will be the cost of beer & pizza.

Thats a great deal. And if Jesse is installing it for beer and pizza, then thats just an added bonus.

I love the kit overall. The only thing that gets annoying sometimes is the SC wein. Its a love hate thing. Soemtimes I love it, like revving it at some guy at a light, or i hate it, when i just want to go pick up some icecream late at night.

I must say Jesse has been very good in taking the time to explain EVERYTHING to me. He also knows FAR more about FI than I. I know so much about our Z but I feel like a newbie asking teh FI ?s ive had to ask him.

I also have a couple fears I need to talk myself through:

1. Another tranny going (Im on #2) and me having to pay for it instead of Nissan.

2. Blowing a motor

3. Finding a place to accurately tune a prodoct I never bought from them and expecting them to stand by their work.

Jesse I will be emailing you later on tonight
Thanks for being so helpful.

I'd agree with what Enron Exec and others wrote on this thread.
I'd add that it's easy to install and easy to remove (sh*t happens).

1. it's easy enough to install by 1 person with some mechanical skills.

2. add some form of timing retard (J&S).

3. dyno tune AF to 11s at high RPM.

4. get wide band O2 sensor and display (logging would be
extra nice so you can check on things as weather gets colder
or as you add/change a small mod).

With this setup, it's easy to disable the SC for troubleshooting.
For example, I had an AC leak. I took out the blower part in
1-2 hours and drove around to get it fixed (just like stock, no
maps/stuff to change). Put blower back on in a hour and was
back to were I was before (knock on wood).

Only thing I'm still waiting on is CARB EO for CA. It's been awhile
now with no movement...

Also, if I had to do it all over again, I'd probably just install the
MAP ECU. It allows you to tune fuel and timing, does logging,
and can read/display a wide band o2 sensor.

Later, if you get bigger injectors, then you don't need more
electronics. It doesn't do active det retard like the J&S but
overall, I think it's a better route (cheaper too).

Good luck,
rob

ps. if you're close to the bay area, I'd help you for food and drinks
as well... (with what time permits with a baby and wife of course)...

I'm leaving tomorrow morning to California. I'll still be able to check email though.
