For what it's worth, here's the article/forum about comparisions of 2003 G, Z, Z06
http://www.automotiveforums.com/t88312.html

Here is a good comparison of the New Skyline Coupe (Infiniti G35) and the new 350Z. I also included the ZO6 and NSX to show a good comparison of 4 cars semi-equal in performance:

----Skyline Coupe(G35)----350Z (2003)------NSX (2003)-----ZO6 (2003)

That was painful to get the columns to line up! Hopefully it looks a little easier to read now!

I am amazed that the G35 actualy out performs the 350Z in several categories and costs less to boot! Hmmm.... if the Infiniti GT-R is anything like the G35 we will be lucky indeed. The most interesting aspect is the slalom time. The G35 out performs the ZO6!!!

I'm going to have to make the G35 (sedan and coupe) vs 350z decision here too. I haven't taken a test drive yet, but I am not sure how much more performance the 350 really has anymore. The 06 350z got reallllly heavy.

Curb weights from Nissans's sites:
G35 Coupe: 3,524
G35 Sedan: 3,512
350z Touring: 3400.

that's a little more than 100lbs difference. Although I'd get the premium package with the G's, which would probably add another 100lbs (guessing).

I don't know if they handle markedly differently (different suspension turning), since I haven't actually gotten around to driving either.

I guess that's why I see so many Gs and few Zs anymore.

I know the vehicles share the same engine and many other components, but I am wondering if the G35 Coupe MT is every bit as good in handling and performance as the 350Z Coupe with MT also. I've read a lot of reviews on the G35, but haven't found one that directly compares the handling and performance of the cars. It would be especially helpful if there are former 350Z owners here to comment on their experience in switching from the 350Z to the G35. Thanks! Jon
Yeah I just bought my car in thanksgiving of 05. i was totally deciding between a g35, s2000, z4, new bmw 3 series, or the 350z roadster, and narrowed it down to the g35, 350z roadster, and s2000.

i ended up getting the 350z roadster enthu.

these are my reasons:

both seem to perform about the same. (now im saying roadster and the g35 coupe) so it basically came down to, do i want nice leather seats or a convertible top. living in LA where it doesnt rain, i went with the convertible top and id have to say that there really isnt anything that makes me smile more when blasting down the freeways with the top down (or along the beach on PCH)

i had a honda crv prior to this (yeah a huge upgrade) and was sick of giving other people rides all the time. now i can smile and say, "i only have two seats," and not look like a jerk.

i dont know how oregon is, but it seems like EVERYONE out here in LA has a g35. its almost as prevalent as the bmw 3 series. i dont like spending 30k+ on a car that a lot of other people have. now granted there are tons of 350zs out here, there are only a handful of roadsters. it makes me feel special.

finally, this is probably one of the biggest reasons, my age had something to do with it. im 26 and not tied down to any women right now, and i figured this would be the best time to own a convertible sports car. i mean, once i find myself a girl and start making babies, a 2 seater convertible isnt very practical... for those nice luxury coupes/sedans, ill probably get them when im in my mid 30s-- in other words, ill be driving that type of car soon enough so ill just hold off and get something that suits my lifestyle more.

If it exists on the G35, I might as well go with a 350Z (not 03 or 04 though), OR simply (actually emotions make that hard) forget about both cars. I do prefer the performance more than the extra seats and storage - I have a totally impractical MR2 Spyder right now, so those things don't mean much to me, lol. Jon
The G35 does not have the feathering issues the 350z has. The guy doesn't know his facts right.

Both car performance wise are pretty equal.

If you want speed and go crazy with mods = 350z is the MUST. there are so many mods for 350z compare to the g35..... I feel regret sometimes that i got the G but whenever i look at my friend 350z interior, I feel like i made the right decision ....well it's just my $.02 opion.

Are you serious? Last time I checked all three cars: Z, g35c and g35s all had the same motor. Maybe I missed the memo.

I have seen a Z get beat by a Altima SE-R. Both cars were bone stock and from a dig. Like most have said already, its all about what you want. All three perform about the same, most differences are in style. I choose style w/4doors. Its lighter than any of the coupes and about the same weight as the 06 z and probably lighter than the roadster.

It all boils down to the driver and whether or not it is his day. Though I would hope the z would win everytime, especially from a dig. Hell even in my se-r a bone stock z is going to take me from a dig, RWD > FWD any day. But after a gear or two, it will soon be curtains for somebody.

+1 on the decision on the g35c vs the 350z....I could always get a g35 type of car in the future. The Z screamed out single and ready to play! Although I had a girl at the time i bought the Z. But thats all over now and my social life couldnt be better, and yeah, its not due to the Z.

Again someone not knowing the facts.

Both engines are exactly the SAME. No internals are different!

The G35 Coupe actually handles better than the Z in tests.

Both are about equal in the speed department with a slight edge to the 350z.

g is slightly slower I MEAN SLIGHTLY nothing you will ever notice.

+ it feels alot smoother a quieter inside with is a big plus. i am beginning to feel like changing to the g. the g would be a much nicer every day car. and how many times are you gonna race your car. seriously. if you want something fast get a WRX or an EVO.

I am 54, my child is grown and left the nest, and my wife is 55. I got a Z. It is all a matter of your preference at the time. My car is also an automatic and my wife will not object to drive the thing. I have a Tundra and Lexus RX330 so the need for practical was not an issue. This is a discretionary car (meaning not needed to commute or use for vacation) so I did not have to compromise anything. On another note, Infinity has made many models since it came out and most folks are clueless as to what is a G35. Most people know a Nissan 350Z. On the tire issue I thought that is was mainly a low tire pressure issue (below 35 psi) hence a tire pressure monitor on the 05 and 06.

Actually all cars federal law states they need to have a tire pressure monitoring system installed by 2005 or 2006. That is the reason why they have it. Not the reason why the Z had feathering issues caused by alignment problems.

Here is the link. My wife's RX330 just warns when a pressure is low not the actual pressure. I may be wrong but the help line on Nissan told me that the tire pressure was the culprit. I am not saying I am right just where I got the information. http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news0..._pressure.html
