Default Stock Rim Widening Question

Has anyone had their stock rear rims widened? I was thinking of sending my rear 18's to get widened by 2 inches to fit a wider tire for more traction and a stock look. I still have to confirm if there is enough clearance or if I would need a spacer. Does anyone know?

The stocks are heavy to begin with, adding more weight to make them wider doesnt seem all too pratical...Why not just go get some wider after market wheels since usually they are lighter as well...I'm currently using Enekei RPO3's 18x9 and 18x10 and they are lighter and stronger

Sure there are better alternatives, but this is way cheaper than buying a new set of wheels ($175/wheel). Plus you achieve the "sleeper" look and you won't be lighting up tires all over the place. Especially if you're FI.

Not a bad idea. I'll probably do that after I get some touring wheels (I hate the enthusiast ones). Oh, and where do you find wheels for 175$ per wheel?
