I just got back from blowing my motor racing my friend's Hayabusa. SIGH! I hear a clack clack coming from the block... It still runs but it shuts off spontaneously. I believe its a spun bearing and probably a blown piston ring coz its smoking like crazy.

I guess I really have no choice now but to get my other motor built ASAP.

SHould I get the turbos rebuilt again? I heard the shavings from the spun bearing could have made it into the turbos!

Back by popular demand LOL (not really but I just feel like posting it).

My motor finally made it out of the machine shop after being honed, balanced, decked, and sleeved (only one cylinder because of a small crack).

Here are some up to date pictures of the build.

Here's what it looked like straight out of the machine shop. Stock main studs.

A shot of the honed cylinders and brand new oil jets. I kinda broke the old ones while I was pulling the pistons out.

ARP main studs installed

Another shot with the ARP's

Wow, nice stable you have there...

Keep us updated on the build and how it is going, I take it that it was a ring that blew (hence the smoke)... What are you going to do about the turbos? Are you going to rebuild them?

P.S. I am getting a new crank / bearings installed ATM... I had a sub par un-balanced pulley eat at my crank.

Good Luck!

I think i need to bebuild them because after I blew the motor I found a ridiculous amount of oil in my intercooler piping but my guy does the whole rebuild in a day or two and for like 300 bucks. (including balancing)

What brand pulley did you buy that ate at your crank?

Any updates? Did you blow your first motor on a non-built block? Btw, you have some nice cars.

Yeah, Dan...isn't it done now? I went out to the corner a little over a month ago and hung out with Ivan. He was telling me stories of how the luck sucks with your car. I hope it's all figured out because I want to see the beast run.

LOL you hung out with Ivan or Alex with the Gold IS? Its usually him the one talking all the trash he can fit in his mouth hehehehe.

I actually got it running right now. I'm about 400miles into the 1000 mile break-in. Its boosting beautifully with freshly rebuilt twins, the motor runs smoother than stock, and every day I inch the throttle up a little.

I have two small problems right now. A small oil leak coming from the AAM oil pan spacer AM fittings (I just need to tighten them down a little more).

I had a P/S leak but I got that fixed...

I bought a set of dump pipes from scott @ SVRT and I got a wideband today so next week I'll be yanking out the stock cats and replacing them with the 3'' down pipes and welding the wideband sensor in. Hopefully by then I'll be done with the break-in period.

Another issue and probably the most severe is that I installed the flywheel on wrong. I guess I aligned it on the wrong dowel pin hole so if I connect the crank sensor, the car won't run. If I don't then it takes about 4 seconds of cranking for the car to start and I get an SES and SLIP light. THe car runs good with slight misfire due to the crank sensonr not being connected but I'm getting a clutch on monday and that ussue will get resolved as well.

I'm stoked dude, I can't wait to get it on the track and run better than 12.9!!!

You goin to tampa on SUnday for the grand opening of the new RZ motoring?

Supra: too expensive.
SC300: UGLY.
ES300: I'm not that old.

My next car gonna be is300 with 2jz-GTE TT.
Is the handling as good as G35?

the handling on the is300 w/ tein flex is insane. I have the flex on my G but I don't really have it lowered all that much nor do I have it on stiff. But as of this very moment I would say his car handles better than mine.
