I had to stop putting the motor together beacuse I realized I was missing 2 of the 3 oil jets that keep the pistons lubricated. They broke off when we were taking the rods out. Be real careful if you're doing something like this yourself because these oil jets are tiny, fragile and they cost $30.00 a piece!

I have all but 2 pistons in beacause on monday, when the oil jets come in, I will be able to access the screw that holds the jets in and then throw everything in and continue the build.

So far, everything has turned out as planned. I bought stock bearings from nissan but then I heard I could have gotten calico coated ones for just about the same price. Huh... too late for that so these will have to do.

Here's a pic of the two pistons remaining... I had to cover them up for the next few days till my jets come in.

All the seals on the turbos replaced (EASY TO DO!!!!) Ready for balancing.

Well it seems that we all have our opinions...I have seen a Supra with a Toyota MR2 motor push 1000hp....50/50 weight distro with 220mp top end too. I have also seen a nissan sentra SER run 9's. Everything is relative to your pocket book. Growing up, one of my friends dad had a 454 in a Ford Fiesta...It ran a 9 flat almost..9.80 all tubbed out with 411's in the rear! If you build it, anything will come....fast! I think im going to go with the Still SC or the Single Turbonetics....I like my leather, navi and road trip reliablity more than smoking my best friend 03 Cobra with 478RWP! To each his own, be safe and keep your cars in one piece... Ohh I also drive a 1978 CJ5 with a bored out 350 that weighs 1800 lbs including the bullet proof NV4500 tranny.... I will need willey bars once its done... summer of 06!

Paint it black, it'll look really good plus it will protect it from rust, and discoloration. Very good work on both cars, i'm subscribing to this thread.

Just stopping by agian to fill you guys in.
Today both IS300's went to Aerocomp for a full tune and unfortunately had to head back home after a few failed attempts to dyno the graphite gray IS. Then it got too late and the gold IS didn't have tome run on the dyno.

Gray IS wasn't making sufficient boost because of a wastegate malfunction and then began to overheat.

The gold IS got a quick tune without actually getting put on the dyno and now runs better and actually boosts very well.

They will be going back next week to get the job finally done.

As for me... I might be abandoning my build
I'll post my reasons after I make a solid decision.
People keep your eyes peeled. I might be selling the Pauter rods and wiseco pistons.

I'm not going to take any sides on this topic, but I will say one thing, the 2JZ-
GTE is a very strong motor right out the door. The VQ is also a very good motor out the door also. The 2JZ is built to deal with boost right from the get go, whereas the VQ is a very strong N/A motor.

- My only concern with the 2JZ in the IS is traction issues, but if that is taken care of then it would be hard to beat!!!

I can't wait to see the final outcome of this competition!!! Just my 2 cents!!!

Just postin up a video of me messin around with my boring-*** N/A (for now) car.
For some reason the bitrate sucks and you can't see the flame on the right side and it just kinda looks like a pop. I put it on streetfire.net and you can see the full flames there.

Friday afternoon I began working on the car to pull the motor out. Before the end of the day we got it out. Saturday I worked all day putting the rebuilt turbos back on and prepping all the oil lines, putting the oil pan back on and tinkering with other minor details. Sunday the motor went in and started up without a problem. It was incredibly smooth and I noticed it began to randomly overheat. It turns out it was an air pocket inside the heater lines. I had to unscrew a controller valve and add more water and voila! No more overheating. I also uploaded the greddy stock fuel map but the car was smoking (oil) out the tail pipe but as I suspected, it was due to kinked oil return lines. I went out and bought -10 steel braided lines to replace the weak bridgestonerubber ones and now the car boosts beautifully and I should have it on the dyno very soon.

Stay tuned. Oh yeah... the IS is at 385whp and not an ounce of traction!
Not 402 like goldie mentioned...

I'm still not done with my built engine. need more $$$

its an IS what sort of traction did they expect...LOL.

Unless you "TUB" those things out by removing inner fender wells...and putting 305 on that light rear end.....good luck...lol..FYI AAM in MD has a Vortech SC on a Z that pushed 468RWHP!!! Im going with that set up because its cheaper!
