The 2jz is superior in nearly every way. Itll put out more power, handle more boost, hold together better and do all this with much less effort, modification and cost less. The 2jz is an unbelieveable beast. Dont underestimate it. I know the supra guys will race anytime. Go see for yourself.

Exactly when did we find out that the Supra powerplant is superior? Again, that motor has been out a lot longer than the VQ35. The answer better be 2 years after it first hit the market!! If not, this can't be a solid discussion as to which engine is better. They have to have comparable time in the hands of builders, the only thing you can do is compare the level of power and performance the Supra engines where putting out, 2-3 years after the engine apeared on the market!

Guys... 2JZ is superior in every way when it comes to boost, period. That engine was built to handle boost from beginning. 900+rwhp on stock block is enough evidence I hope... There is no way in hell VQ can handle 900rwhp on stock internals. Sure, if you put money into the VQ, then it can handle some serious boost, but what engine can't with enough money? VQ wasn't built to handle boost, and 2JZ-GTE was built to handle boost... hell, Toyota overbuilt GTE's to rediculous levels. Supra guys will laugh their *** off when they see this thread...

I think its clear that the VQ is a beast of a motor but can't hold too much boost unless you forge all the internals. I believe that if the VQ had an iron short block and came with forged internals, it would blow the 2JZ GTE out of the water. All we need is a performance part company to make it for us.

Man... some of you guys are blind. I know you guys love your G/Z and VQ sure is a great engine but it wasn't simply built to handle boost...

BTW The VQ motor is aluminum block and high compression vs 2jzgte which has iron block and low compression. You guys are comparing apples and oranges, this is pointless.

yah, those MR2 didnt do the 3SGTE justice...but the Alltracs made a lot of accomplishments in WRC. And the JGTC Supra teams use the 3SGTE because of the power potential and it being lighter than the 2JZ makse it overall a better engine - in road racing. In drag racing? I'd have to agree that that 2JZ has the upper hand...both engines have their ups and downs...but I still think that the 3SGTE > 2JZGTE. Biased as it seems becase I used to own an 88 ST165 Alltrac
