Infinity G35= skyline
Lest we forget that Nissan has several cars in Japan that are badged as Infiniti's here in the US. The FUGA 450GT, aka M45, is another example of what import companies do to make a premium name for themselves in the states.
Think about it this way; 30+ years ago the American culture looked at Japanese cars as the little econo box put-put cars that were designed for good gas milage. And they were just that. In order to compete with the growing luxury market in the US, Japanese auto makers split their brand names and introduced high-end imports geared at the luxury crowd. Thus, Lexus, Infiniti, and Acura were born. It's really nothing new to Americans either as Ford is Lincoln and Mercury, and Dodge is Chrystler and Plymoth.
The list goes on and on....
It really doesn't matter what you badge it. At it's bare core, Nissan designed, built, distributed the V35 chassis globally in '03. Simple fact.

Skylines don't have to be the R34 etc. That's like calling every Integra on the street a Type R.
A real Nissan enthusiast will know to call a R34.. AN R34.. NOT a Skyline. You guys have to understand the "Skyline" was originally a economy sedan when it was first built!!!
Hence why they call the G35 a... "Skyline 350GT".. It is a 350GT NOT a R34. They also make Skyline 4 doors and wagons in Japan!!
Good history lesson!

Oh boy...the misinformation continues, and this retarded thread refuses to die.
R32, R33, R34, are just chassis codes for different years. The 350Z is a Z33, the 300ZX is a Z32, the G35 is a V35.
GT-R is just a model, same as Type-R, Si, EX, LX, DX, HX, etc...
c'mon people...let's learn to use the Google, mmmkay?
I think this is funny. I had a Skyline GT250 while I was in Japan last year. Guess what, it is the exact same power train and body as what is known as the G35 sedan here. The GT350 is know as the G35 coupe here. The biggest difference is that in japan, they mostly come in cloth interiors. self folding mirriors, right hand drive, and missing many of the standard features (they are options there) that you guys are used to.
Also, the R34 came in many different models, including the GT, the GT-S and the GTR. The GT and the GT-S were nothing special, yet they are still called the Nissan Skyline. Do some research on them, you might be amazed.

Thats would be like saying a 911 turbo is a 935, 964, 993 or 996, not a 911. (The turbo models are not, however, carreras.)
Please dont change the badging on your car... It makes the baby jesus sad...

It's like calling only the RSX-S the DC5, even though they have the regular RSX as well with the same chassis code.
Or calling only the Type-R the DC2, even though the LS and GSR both share the same chassis code.
