1 word.. lease. but then again you're not supposed to mod a leased car.

I wonder how much the new Z & G will weigh... what do you guys think? 3400 lbs realistically? Sadly the trend is more power, more weight, and the worst part = more $$$$.

the new g37 is suppose to weigh 3600lbs +...according to this thread https://my350z.com/forum/showthread.php?t=259250

the current sedan and coupe weigh 3500-ish...so gaining a 100 or so lbs isn't THAT bad...especially considering the current VQ35HR is running solid 13's...i'm guessing a 100lbs gain...but with more hp and smooth powerband, we have a solid low 13 sec car with the G37?

Unless Nissan addresses the trq issue it will not "rock the 335i".

lol I just realized it sounded a little too harsh... especially for Mike

Well, back to the topic. I think its more of a weight issue than a torque issue. I would be certain that if the G37 weighed as much as the current, or atleast as much as the 335i, it would have the capability of doing as well, of not better than the 335i.

But, like I have always said, Nissan seems to be ignoring the weight issue. Especially considering the amount of enthusiasts in the G/Z community.

I expect the next "370Z" to be at 3500 if the growing trend continues. It's already at 3404 for some models, and seeing how the 03 base weighed in at 3198, it should be no surprice.

I don't think the G37 will keep up with the 335i in 1/4 mile. 335i has boat loads of trq that is hard to overcome... for some reason the boards lately have been biased against trq - I'll take trq any day of the week FTW!!!

I guess soon we shall see... I hear DaveO is getting one )G37) to test next week... he's thinking about a GTG to check out the car... Maybe we should find a 335i to race What better way to determine the trq vs HP debate...

didn't edmunds or one of those internet sites say the tested the G37 and it was just as good as the 335i coupe and possibly slightly better in the corners vs the 335?

It's going to be hard to debate the HP vs TQ in these two cars, since they work very differently in how they produce power & torque. It would be easy if it had one controlled variable (HP) and a independant variable (TQ). Plus, the weight issue.

Why don't you invite DaveO to Cal Speedway this 30th?
