I raced a hot girl that was driving a silver G37 from a light and from several roll-ons from about 40 and she never pulled me once. Im sure it was an auto with her just flooring it when we went at it. But I thought I would get toasted but I didnt.
From the light we were neck and neck untill about 80 when we ran into traffic. I wasnt really impressed by the car at all. I was more into rying to get her number then race her.
My Z is bone stock 04 6mt with just a k-n drop-in.
I would never ever buy one, its just like a fast luxery car and it doesnt have the Z badge on it.

Hey guys, I hate to bring back an old thread, but this will provide some closure.
So a buddy of mine purchased an auto G37 and after his break-in, we finally took it out. The mods on my car are the JWT popcharger and a Nismo Exhaust.
We made a few runs, first from 10 and then from 40. In the first run, I get quite a jump on him due to fact that he has very low torque in such a heavy car. At around 90 however, he shoots right back and we stay even till we stopped at 120. From 40 it was a much better race, we went back and forth, mainly due to the shift times, but in the end I was a little ahead of him, i.e his front was at my door!
We then did a few torque races, and he could not keep up.
All in all, the car is made for top-end power, obviously, and it really needs more torque. I mean I beat him in 1st gear! which is the worst gear for my car! my friends 96 V6 camaro stays next to me up until 40!
Thanks for reading

Was he driving in full auto, full MM or in DS mode?
Full auto is slower to respond from that lower speed especially.
The car has plenty of torque from down low the torque band is flatter than the previous generation G- it's only the peak torque that appears low on a stat sheet (for it's weight). Of course the Z- especially modded- would have a peak torque advantage especially for it's weight.

Nissan just needs to drop the 3.7 in the Z -now that would be the ticket.

Your friend should give the shift input right at 7000 RPM (actually at 6990 or so) for best results in first gear. It revs so fast at that RPM that the car can't react fast enough to your input to get it out of 1st gear before hitting the rev limiter. DS mode gets it right each time though. Full auto mode shifts a little too early and not quite as quick.
