Its a pain in the *** swap. trans will not bolt up and you can use Stock ecu. but if you want i think osiris can take off nats and acouple other things. or you can use the ecu from a Q45 since they have 8 cyl driver and load up new roms with nistune. Ive researched the swap its a great motor with lots of potential and they are wicked cheap. I honestly would do a LS1

^That nice but what up with the VK56 is it still to difficult?
I currently have a fully built 400hpwhp+ LS1 but it would be really nice if I can see those numbers with a VK.
The simplicity of the LS1 swap is much more encouraging but I'm hoping more people get involved with the VK so we don't have to result in putting a GM motor in our Nissans.

An ever so late update to this thread. My build has been going on for about a year since I didn't have all of the funds up front and it has been just a nightmare. Idk if it's worth it or not yet, but my swap has AC, I will eventually do electric PS. I have gone the most cost effective route possible or what I thought was and in the end wound up needing a stand alone ems. Anyone who says you don't has no idea about the swap or is a creative genius. I have had the pleasure of making the acquaintance of some really important people in the car industry and some of the drift pros mechanics and they're all really awesome sans one group who in the end kinda laughed in my face. This week should tell what happens next in this chapter of my life and this pit of money that is the VK swap. For the light of pocket, go LS, if you're dedicated, deep pocketed, or really good at this stuff on your own enjoy.

VQ37 is a more better swap at this point since it just bolts up and everything works, not to mention all the aftermarket support it has now compared to any Nissan V8.
VQ40DE might be a good swap since it just bolts in without rewire, but only if it doesn't use rear o2s for AFR.

uprev wrote some code for a local drifter up here in the nw to get his vk56 running in his z. he has some jwt cams but other than that its stock outside of a tune and it put down 390/400 or something.

I've heard grumblings of VQ37 swap, but who has done this? any documented results?

hey I know this is a 10 year old thread but I’ve been thinking about swapping a vk56 into my g37x. My idea is to get the motor, 7speed trans, ecu and everything from an m56. My thought is that chassis is offered with the vk56 and the vq37 and I believe the front subframe is the same on both physically I think the only difference is the motor mount and I would probably need a custom length rear driveshaft. Also was wondering about the ecu, I’m assuming I would need the one from an m56 and whatever needs to be changed with that or is my current ecu fine and would just need to the m56’s programming? Curious how that all work with the inspection and whether the m56 ecu used can have the VIN changed to match my car

Well this isn’t something I’m doing anytime soon probably next spring/ summer at the earliest when that time comes I’ll need some assistance on all the wiring and tuning. So how does that work when getting an inspection does it not check the vin on the ecu

So your saying I could just get the m56 ecu and the dealer would swap the vin’s if I asked, I guess if mine went bad thats what I’d have to do if I bought another g37 ecu, makes sense I was thinking they’d think that’s sketchy for whatever reason
