Default Manual G35 Coupe Base Model

Does anyone here own a 6 speed (leather) without any other options, no sunroof or Blows. I'm trying to figure out how hard it is to order one in this configuration and if anyone has one and could expand on their experiences trying to get one it would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

You can order it. It will take 3 months for it to arrive though. And the dealer will require a 10% deposit up front.

You will have to order because dealers don't normally stock these. I had no problem ordering one at all. The first dealer I went to placed my order and I had to put down $1000 refundable deposit which is typical. Use your credit card so if they mess up the order or something happens it will be easy to get your money back if they are giving you a hard time. Get an order # at the time it is placed, this is the only way you know for sure they actually ordered it. I ordered mine Thanksgiving weekend last year, it was a December allocation and I took delivery on Feb. 19. Almost one year later and no regrets so far. I needed the extra headroom w/o sunroof and the Bose just plain sucked so it fit my needs perfectly.

32.5k when I got mine, I believe the 18" tire package increase raised the price of the 04's to around 33k.

I put in an order for one on Wed, base 6sp plus sunroof. I believe it will come out to 33.9 or so (32.5 plus 5 for destination plus another 1k for the roof). 1k deposit, fully refundable but a 3 month wait basically.

08 I have a 6MT Coupe coming in DG, Premum, Aero for 34.7. I think you're paying too much. Base 6sp? Do you get the Brembos with that? I think I did pretty well considering I'm getting everything except the Nav.

Actually the price i quoted is MSRP. if you are getting a manual with everything but navi for 34.7 thats a great deal, but in SoCal i have pretty much yet to see anyone get even a few bucks off a manual let alone a special order. The base 6sp comes with Brembos, 18 tire package, LSD, leather heated seats as standard. With the premium package and aero msrp should be just under 36k i believe for the manual.

Sounds right - I drove a 6MT loaded today with NAV, XM, Brembos, Dual Climate Controls, Sunroof, etc, and it was pushing 39k MSRP, less a promo 1500 off. Had Aero kit, I don't think there were any OEM options left off the car. I paid about $70 for my Z's cargo net, more for a rear deck mat, and something like 2 small bills for the Z car cover. 2 of 3 were already in the car with the G35. The options seemed to be a better value than the same things added to a 350Z - you get more standard with the G35 at price points like the 350Z Touring/Track - it's almost a $5k difference in favor of the G35 even if you could build a leather track model (N/A), G35 seats are much better, too.

I believe this was the Sport Coupe Leather 6MT, even adding NAV to 34.7 gets you 36.7 MSRP.

Currently drive 350Z, hard to believe 2 cars can be so similar but so different at the same time...this one only had 71 miles on it so I didn't get on it much above 4k rpm, but seems close but better shifting, guessing depending on gears should post same 0-60, maybe a tad slower in 1/4, a little higher G's on the pad.

Performance aside, it's a hell of a lot more refined car...funny how they managed to put a glovebox up front and 2 12V outlets...and the rear Brembo rotors are actually slightly larger than the 350Z track, 12.x vs. 13.x.

Now I just wonder why they skimped on the pedals & footrest. For comparison, the 6MT uses exactly the same pedals as my 1995 Altima - smooth cheap rubber pads. Why not the grippier perforated metal pads? Some sort of perception thing?

I have my 2004 base 6mt coupe now for a few months. The sticker was 33550 with the aero package as the only option.

I had to wait three months as well.

I talked to the GM at my local dealer doesn't order leather w/o piling on options. They just order a loss-leader base cloth 6MT for promo newspaper ads.

My guess is 99% would have to be special order, in which case I'd ask "why" unless you don't want the options even if they are free - off-the-lot has always been easier to leverage a better price. Special order ends up MSRP or close.

I have a fully loaded 6MT leather, and if I had not taken the NAV it would have come in about 36k - with Brembos; Sunroof, Aero Kit, ...NAV was a serious bump, almost 2k I think...

Leather Sport Coupe '04? 18" wheels? Good price if so.

Actually, there is no such thing as a cloth 6MT. The base cloth model is not negotiable - options can't be added and it comes with AT. A 6MT "base" comes with 18" wheels and leather standard.

You raise a good point about discounts on dealer inventory, but a year ago when I bought mine there were NO discounts at all on 6MT's. I saved over 2 grand by not getting the premium package (I would have dumped the Bose anyway and I need extra headroom so no sunroof).

You're right - the cloth was AT. You can get leather 6MT, AT, but cloth just AT (?)

BTW, the sunroof is more centered so unless the roofline is lower (not likely) headroom due to the sunroof (for me at 5'10") was not an issue. Until I figured out the seat I was bouncing my head to the left of the SR :0

I'm no Bose fan but I have to say it's not a bad system for OEM-installed Bose, have heard much worse for $$$. Lacks a little in the midrange, but has very decent base punch (I have the 222W, 7-speaker setup with the Nd™ woofer). Highs are OK, with treble cranked. Changer is slow for a 6-disc even. A-Market you can always do better for the $$$.

If you just skip the sunroof ($1000 MSRP!), NAV ($2000), and XM ($400) you can knock off $3400 pretty easily. I wouldn't suggesting dumping the Prem Pack only for resale value issues.

32.5 MSRP still here, $900 for perf tire pack (better rubber, 7-spoke 18") for the '04. Pretty sure all the 6MT's include Brembos.

Without reading the last half of this post, I'll post my little bit of experience. Last August (1st week of) my U order went in for a 2004 Gc, DG, 6MT, with NO options other than Splash Guards. The dealer, Riverside Infiniti, wanted a $1,000 NON-refundable deposit which I did. In what was almost an exact two months later I got the call that the car was in. It probably helped that I live by one of the largest ports in the world here in LA.

08, congrats on getting your order in! I'm gonna be on the same boat here with ya again as well

Yes, but living in Cal you don't have the dealer incentive to get cars out the door that don't go in the snow!
Congrats

I should read my email more often, since someone else already responded. I love both the 350z and my g35, but wanted a back seat for storage and the occasional use. I couldn't believe it, when i found out my base g35 was cheaper than an equally optioned track 350 which is the only way to get the brembos. And you can't get leather in the track 350.

The base 6mt gets the 18's, stiffer suspension, pilots, brembos, leather, a very good sounding base 160 watt radio... all the stuff that counted for me. Many would disagree though, and go for the premium package. For me, I'm still walking out in the morning and not believing, this is my car.

Well time for my story...

Ordered a 2003 350z performance exactly as I wanted for $30 (performance w/ side impacts, splash guards, floor mats) in May of 2003. They said 3 months, so I checked in once a month for the first 2 months. Check a little before 3 months is up, and got a marvelous surprise. My car showed up, but they sent it back. Turns out it "fell off the truck", and showed up so badly damaged the strut bar and backend was broken. Keep in mind they NEVER called me. The reason for not calling? My salesperson doesn't work there anymore. What I think REALLY happened was that the car showed up, they didn't know who it belonged to since the salesman was gone, and they sold it. And, of course, they "can't find one like it". So I had the choice of either ordering a new one, or changing what I wanted. At first I looked into getting a touring model, or maybe even track, or another COLOR at performance, but they said they wouldn't drop the price to below invoice. The DAY I told them I'd just order an '04 instead of paying for one that I didn't want, they MAGICALLY found one. I was happy, but pissed as hell. These bastards just HAPPEN to locate one once I'm not looking to wait around anymore? AND they won't drop the price anymore because they are "already at invoice, and would lose $$ if they went lower". I was just so tired of dealing with this, I took the car (even though I ended up getting it with 70mi on it) for $30k.

In retrospect, I should have threatened to leave the dealer more, but I was stupid and too car hungry. The moral to my story is, if you DO order it, order from a dealer you can trust, and find out how long the salesperson has been there. My guy was there for 4 months...I should have known. Also, if they're being asses, just walk out the door. They'll probably be a lot more receptive to your wishes if you do.
