The 5AT will work fine with any gearset. The shorter it is, the faster the car will be. You will lose top speed. You will lose cruise control if you go past 3.5/3.7. Pair it with a Quaife LSD and have some fun!

I also highly recommend an aftermarket transmission temp gauge, cooler (you can bypass the stock cooler/warmer in the radiator but fluid will take longer to get to operating temp - only relevant in cold climates) if you plan on working that transmission hard. Get an oil temp gauge and an ATF temp gauge, and if it gets above 220, put coolers on for that fluid! Easy.

Damn, that sucks, reminds me of my friend's lifted Titan and giant wheels, that thing's speedo musta been off by like a good 10mph lol. I wanted to keep the G's readings a little more sophisticated, guess I got it though, just didn't work out in my favor lol. Thanks for the info!

Always good to hear from the built 5AT master! I definitely plan on having an ATF temp. gauge installed after you stressed its importance in our first back and forth, no doubt. I live in Florida (its almost a freak'in 100 here right now!) so I'm assuming the general consensus is that bypassing the radiator and running a dedicated tranny cooler is considered safe here then?

Also, you said I should get an oil temp. gauge and monitor it to make sure it doesn't get over 220 either? Or where you just referring to the ATF? What temp. should I make sure the motor oil doesn't exceed? Thanks for the info!

Minimums i would do are an Oil Pan spacer (extra quart to help the motor) and an external trans cooler. If you do the install yourself both can be done for slightly under $200.

Yes sir, you read my mind, already have an oil pan spacer and tranny cooler in mind too. And the spacer comes with pre-drilled holes so I don't have to weld any bungs for the oil temp. sensor either.

Oil temp would be nice, but trans temp would be better.

Your oil and coolant temp are usually very close to each other and you already have a guage for coolant temp. You have no guage for trans temp, that would be my priority.

Good to know, the Trans. Temp. gauge is a definite in my book, so no worries, I will be installing that ASAP. I guess if the oil and coolant temp.'s don't vary greatly I can just use the stock one and use that extra pod space for an AFR reader so tuning it will be that much more effective.

Also, when mounting the trans. temp sensor adapter, should I mount it on the ATF outlet tube as close to the transmission as possible, right?

And if anyone knows, which tube is the outlet tube for the ATF? When looking at the car head-on, is it the right or left tube? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
