Low End Torque HELP
As a newbie to V6, I am looking for advice on helping with the lack of take off, low end torgue.
As a old Vette guy I am spoiled with the massive amount of take off torque. What can I do to help off the line with my G35 Auto?
Mid and upper end runs wonderful, i love the car, just need a little help off the starting line.
I have a G35 Auto, with 10,500 miles, prem tire and wheel package (which gives me the 18" wheels and more import the limited slip diff).
I planned to add a crawford plenum, CIA, and maybe headers and true duals.
Will a stall converter help with these cars? Can the rear gears be changed?
Any advice will be greatly appreciated from a new import guy.
Thanks

Are you headed out to our G meet on the 14th? [/B]

I think the only thing that will REALLY make a difference is forced induction. Most all bolt ons will help the top end out. Nobody has really changed out the gears yet, so I can't really comment on that. But I think 350Evo has some in the works.

Well right now one of the potential sponsors of our DFW crew is in process of getting a shop dedicated to the 350Z and G35. He's a great guy...been in the industry for 8 years. David over at www.350zforums.org. He's also a sponsor of this site.
I used to work at a shop called Intercrew Auto Salon in Richardson. We worked on any car, and Phillip is a nice guy...very knowledgeable in engine building. 11 sec all motor CRX...they have a dynojet 248C also.
There are quite a few other shops out there, but none really that I would trust. They all have their horror stories, but Jotech is a big name in the area. They've done a couple turbo 350Zs. Lone Star Performance in Garland usually works on domestics can do a good price on the ATI supercharger for us.
We can discuss everything in much more detail at the upcoming meet.

It's pretty far from Allen...Euless to be exact. This is our official quarterly meet sponsored by Grubbs Infiniti. It will be a very nice meet. We'll have some reps from ATI come to discuss the procharger, David from 350zforums.org will be bringing a bunch of products as will I, they'll have a new QX56 on display, free continental breakfast, most likely will have door prizes...the list goes on.

Frisco - As a former Lingenfelter 'Vette owner, I know where U're coming from!!
In fact, the only reason I chose my G over another Corvette was it's back seat ( for my grandkids ). My
( almost ) teenaged daughter's mad at me for NOT going with the Chevy as she wanted Daddy to give it to her when she gets her license - SURE I would!!
Anyway, I had Level 10 restall my T/C to 2800 rpms & it's helped ALOT!!
Also, Gurgen & Dave had a Cali company called Edge Racing do the same for them with similar results. Now I'm waiting for B.J. @ 350EVO to call me with a price on a 3.91 geared; LSD equipped differential for me to install via the "plug & play" method. I'm keeping my old "pumpkin" & gears in case I need to reinstall it after I do a T/T or S/C setup ( won't decide until those kits have some run time on them ). FWIW - I'm planning on having Texas Nitrous do an install ( 75 - 100 HP ) for me in March or April so I can at least hang with the Z06's around here until it's time to do the F/I system. Other than a T/C and/or gears, I see no other options for low end grunt. All my other mods seem to move the powerband up or don't really kick in until 4k + rpms.
Still, the G is a much more refined ryde - just 2 different animals!!

I talked with Grubbs and plan to do the ATI kit in a few weeks.
Frisco - Level 10's up in New Jersey. If U call or E-mail them, ask to speak to John. U can count on about a 5-7 day turn-around ( at best ) if ya Red Label the parts up there & back. To reduce your downtime I'd suggest U have Grubbs drop the tranny while they're doing your Procharger work & do the work inhouse. The T/C restall cost $498 & I also had the valve body recalibrated for firmer/quicker full throttle shifts for an additional $698. The V/B work should allow the tranny to handle more power & run cooler ( offsetting the extra heat generated by the looser T/C ) so when I add the nitrous ( & eventually the F/I ) I'll be ready. Let me know how the ATI job comes out as I might have Grubbs do mine ( if I choose the S/C route ). Wish I'd known about the meeting this weekend in time to make it.
Perhaps I can catch another one later this year.
About the gears - I THINK we have something along the lines of 3.23's in the auto-trannies.
