280hp to 295hp?
I have a question, if they do change the hp of the G35 from 280 to 295 isn't still the same engine? Would we be able to update our engine with the upgrades to produce the same hp? I love my 04 I know if I want more power I'll just add a SC or TT, just wondering what the dealer did to produce more power?
Thanks for the help!

Better intake, better flowing exhaust, better ecu tuning, etc...
Any of these could be the answer i would think. I'm sure that there is lots of HP just waiting to bust out. But they must draw the line somewhere.

I just Dyno'd (open hood dyno) at ~322 to the Crank (~258 whp) on Saturday 6/5 with my 2003 6mt. Mods that make a difference are: True Dual Exhaust (like Stillen's despite the 10lb weight penalty over stock and the hefty price tag!! -- also becarefull some of the exhaust systems out there, actually may result in not much more hp and LESS torque from baseline stock!!); straight 3" 350Z Tube (instead of the G's 2.5" with a resonator .. the hell is that ugly thing!) from the back of the air box to the throttle body; a good air induction (pref. with volocity stacker) or a free-flowing K&N drop-in; Crawford-type plenum, giving the front two cylinders that needed breathing space and a nice little ECU re-flash from a known and proven source (I did mine @ TechnoSquare and I am very happy with the results) oh, and a nice set of pulleys ... to give you that additional power and torque through out the range.
On mine, I also have the grounding wires (more pyschological than anthing else!); a 17lb Aluminum Flywheel (just makes the engine rev-up a little faster but don't beleive anyone that tells you it adds power and torque ******** ... intuitively, because it is lighter than the 32lb piece it replaces and it is a rotating mass, you would think that translates into POWER and TORQUE but you won't notice it ... you would notice the chatter of the flywheel when you are below 2200 RPMS though ... NO DOUBT!). On the iffy stuff like free flow cats ... I don't know ... I have heard 12-15 hp gains to the wheel all the way down to a 1-2 hp gain on a DYNO (for a normally aspirated G). I am not sure if it is worth the $700 in parts and ??? labor. Plus, if you do this, smoging it would be impossible and your ECU-reflash needs to be TOTALLY remaped!! The car runs WAY TOO LEAN and detonates like woodpecker on speed.
If you are watching pennies, do the K&N air filter and ECU-reflash.
If you are going to drop some dollars, do all the stuff above and move the ECU-reflash to the end after you are finished with ALL your mods, you get better results that way! BTW - Decide early whether you are going to go for "show" or "go" since that will impact your choices as to air intake systems all the way down to your super-cool-but-heavy-as-hell-19-20" wheels ...
Drive safely and enjoy your ride!
