Shivak, I absolutely agree that hondas are better made than nissans...I was simply pointing out that my S2k was ridiculously expensive to service. All 3 of the dealers in my areas had pretty high service rates. Clutches are $ and short lived...although I'm beggining to hear the same is true of the Z. If you do get one, please keep an eye on the oil. Do miss mine sometimes.

So does the educated guess say the '05 will be faster than the '04 to 60 mph?

Default Please guys, you're killing me

Peak torque in the 2005 G35 coupe is lower but it makes more torque in the upper RPM band unlike its 2004 predecessor. That is why you have a higher peak horsepower figure.

Remember: HP = (Torque X RPM)/ 5252

If you are peaking at 250 lbs of torque at 6400 rpm, then you are making more horsepower than if you were peaking 260 torque at 6000 RPM

As someone else mentioned, Nissan is addressing the lack of top end grunt of the VQ35. It has excellent low and mid range characteristics but it has always sucked on the top end.

So, back to my question, how will that affect the 0-60 times?

the curb weights on the '05 sport mt coupes are heavier than the '04s coupes around 3500+ lbs, i saw the stats on the new '05 g35 booklet at the dealership waiting for my oil change and saw that with the increases in hp there is a decrease in tq and an increase in curb weight, perhaps from the heavier 19inch wheels??

you and orphan are totally right. On my dyno run and feel from driving the car you can feel the last few thousand rpms are useless. The power just dives. so the +hp -tq makes sense to me now.

I have a 05 6mt with 298hp, I've driven a few different cars, sedans and coupes, auto and stick, and my 05 6mt sedan feels faster then the 04 coupe 6mt. (never driven an 05 coupe though).

What a bunch of BS! Mine doesn't cost any more than any other Honda, other than that I run Mobil 1 in it. My clutch was changed for free early in the car's life under a recall...not b/c it was bad, just buzzy under deceleration. Mine has now been supercharged about 15 months, and has ~28K miles. I bought a lightened flywheel shortly before the supercharger install in anticipation of the stock clutch not lasting long....much to my surprise, it's still going strong! (I drive it hard, but no drag racing or clutch dumps)
