Default Anyone have a step by step for Header installation?

Has anyone installed headers themselves and can help me out with what I'm looking at doing before I dive in. Pictures or instructions would be great.

Yup. Call shop.

Drop off car and keys at shop.

Pick up when done.

zchickz.com does, but I would have a shop do it. It cost me $450 and it took the shop over eight hours to put on my DC Sport headers. By the way if your going to go through the hassle, put the Crawfords on please! They produce way more hp then the DC headers. I went with the DC Sport headers because they are carb and 50 state legal. Important for us in Cali.

Technosquare (tuner Gurus) in Torrance put my DC Sports on in about 6 hours for $320.00.

I put my topspeed headers on yesterday. I used the how-to posted above from 350zforums.com, it is the best how-to I have found on the subject. The only hard part is getting the bolts off the stock header and then getting a torq wrench in there to torq them back correctly when you put the new headers on.

It took me about 12 hours in a driveway on jackstands w/o airtools (including typical fooling around, lunch and running out to get 2 bolts).

Good luck w/ your install...

You can feel the power increase, especially where their test car made the largest increases. The sound is a tad raspier, but you loose a pre-cat (that’s what it looks like to me anyways) that is in the stock headers so that is expected, the exhaust is deeper and louder.

They had good fitment, it was a bit off on the flange that connects to the cats, but nothing that could not be fixed w/ a little persuasion.

The bolt that you need is for the flange that connects to the cats, you need a bolt a bit smaller then that hole that will go thru the flange twice and have enough left over to get a nut on it and tighten it down. I really wish I had written down an item number when I got them, but I was not thinking at the time. I got mine from ace hardware, it was about 2 inches long, had a 15mm flanged head on the bolt and a 14mm flange nut.

Hey RAR,

Thanks for the info and pictures! I think I'm gonna put these on my car next weekend. Did you have any issues with any lines (brake, fuel, a/c) residing nearby the installed headers, or are there good distances? I was considering buying some sort of heat shielding to protect any parts that might be heat sensitive. Is this necessary? Any thoughts?

Mike
