Default After adding a Plenum do you need a reflash?

Read this a couple of different places. I may be getting a Crawford plenum soon and read that it is necessary to reflash the ECU to keep from running super lean. Does this mean I need to just reset the ECU or send it to TS? I'm not gonna do it if it means I'm gonna have to send my ECU to Technosquare for a month. Too much money, too much downtime. I am off base with this or is it true?

FWIW, I have the crawford plenum and cats and haven't done the reflash (mostly because I'm a 2004.5 ULEV car). I may be running lean, I don't know. I do have a power gain. I'm sure (or I would hope at least) that a reflash would help the car more.

I wouldn't think it is necessary but it might be helpful. I'm most likely getting a plenum too and i dont plan on getting a reflash. I will just get it tuned when i go FI

Well I am getting my headers installed at the same time so maybe the reflash isn't a bad idea. Sucks cause I cannot afford $600 and there is no way I can disable my car by taking the ECU out. It's my only set of wheels. I'm having my work done at Crawford Z Car so maybe they can give me some advice.

The only reason you would "need" to reflash is if you are running too lean. You will need a dyno with A/F ratio measurement to know. I wouldn't think a plenum by itself would cause a lean condition, but only a dyno will tell. I have plenum, headers, CAI and exhaust and I am not running lean at all, so I don't "need" a reflash. I may get it for other reasons (higher redline, speed limiter removed, a little bit higher idle, etc.) but for $600 I am not in any rush. If I were running very lean, I would be in more of a hurry....

I agree no reflash required. It is worth the reflash for the extra gains you will get through the gears not to mention the car will probably do 180 mph with a reflash.

I was definitely running lean after my mods. Technoquare did it. Take it out, overnight it to them on a monday and you will probably have it back by thursday.

Get ALL mods done before the ecu so you do not need to go back for another "re-flash" if you decide to go for it....

You'll be fine... even with all my mods I'm still on the stock flash.

Good. I was really dreading having to ship that thing off.
