Default Little help with the Kinetix plenum

I've just had the Kinetix plenum installed. The installation was pretty simple besides one bolt that gave me some trouble on the throttle body. It made my engine sound 'rough' for the lack of a better word. I feel more vibration as well through the steering wheel as well as the cabin itself. Does anyone else with it have the same issues? I am just concerned with the extra vibration I am feeling unless that is normal. I know my strut bar is touching the carbon fiber engine cover I have but I am a bit worried about the vibration. Did I install it incorrrectly somehow? Any input would be appreciated. It's just too dark (it's raining as well) for pics at the moment.

I wold check it in the light for any leaks. Mine runs just as smooth as with the stock plenum and there are no added vibrations.

i don't think you'd get a vibration from a leak in the seal. from what i've heard, you'd hear a sucking, hissing or whistling sound if that was the case. i'll bet you a buffalo nickel that your strut bar is touching the plenum itself. I had the same exact problem. here's what you do, broken down into simple steps for knuckleheads like me:

1) acquire a big a$$ adjustable wrench (i got mine at wal mart)
2) loosen the locking nuts on the strut bar by turning both of them towards the front of the car
3) adjust the nut in the middle to extend the length of the strut. you'll see the strut flex up and away from the plenum
4) tighten the locking nuts back down

after all that, drive your car around a little and be prepared to repeat the process if you feel the vibration come back when, say, you corner or go over a bump. good luck dude, and let me know if that works for you.

I installed mine yesterday, and I just put a washer under each bolt of the strut bar, so that I would have enough clearance. At idle it seems just a hair rough, but I didn't drive it.

I did make a mess when the cooler block hose wasn't completly all the way in. I must have dumped about 1/2 of gal of coolant on my garage floor.

It was adjusted a bit but I still get some vibrations. Is there an after market one that I won't have issues with?

Washers on the strut bar work very well. I used two, total of about 3-4 mm, on each strut bar post. I also adjusted the strut bar so that it is longer and therefor, higher above the plenum. It doesn't have any vibrations. I can pass a zip tie easily between the plenum and strut bar.

I had the same problem - my strut bar was touching the plenum. I put in a few washers under each bolt, and the extra vibration disappeared.

Get rid of the engine cover also. I had the cf engine cover and I after I took it off, the noise stopped.
I had to use washers and I had to expand the strut bar as well.
Good luck.

I'd rather get a new strut bar than getting rid of the engine cover. The engine looks naked wihthout it. I know which strut bars are out there, but I don't know if any of them has better clearance.

Then you will have to go for a Crawford, Stillen or something else.
Good luck.

Just want everyone to know that Kinetix Plenum added 2 HP to my rear wheels. Lost 10.5 lbs of torque with the same set up. Dyno tested in Seattle. The benefit is top end is a lot smoother.

I have to agree. Not worth the $400.00, which is a sh!tload of pennies. Buckets worth. FORTY THOUSAND PENNIES!

( Anybody got any dimes? Somebody's going to have to go back to town and get a sh!tload of dimes. Slim Pickens haha )

It sounds good, and the engine runs better in the upper RPMs but the miniscule amount of power you derive from the plenum is not worth the $400.00 IMHO.

I would have rather liked to have a MyFi XM radio for Christmas, but the kinetix plenum was my present to myself this year. Too bad.

I think the plenum just by itself will not yield significant results. When combined with other air mods, like exhaust and cats, you may see some more significant increases.

So what's all this talk about the 'best bang for the buck' and the 'hp that i could actually feel'???

Don't tell me I just wasted all my money on this mod.

The Kinetix isn't the "best bang for the buck". I would have to say the JWT Popcharger is it.

I just ordered the plenum and the kinetix hf cats. So i'm hoping to be able to notice a little something. I already have a full exhaust. I got both for 630 though, so seems like a pretty good deal.
