thanx for your informative responses; two more ?: does the japtrix midpipe have a resonator, and does it change the sound in any way?

Default This is important news to me..

as I was just about to buy a Y pipe myself. I was under the impression these just bolted right on.

..so....you need another pipe after this one too?

It will bolt right onto the stock exhaust. However, most Y-pipes have ~3" outlets, where the stock exhaust is ~2.5".

It does have a resonator. The sound is more gutteral in the upper range.

It depends on the diameter of your outlet of your ypipe; if it is same size as stock, you don't need a b/mid pipe, but if its bigger, people are recommending you get one that matches the ypipe outlet diameter; also consider what muffler you have...if its stock, you need a bpipe that matches the stock diameter. the japtrix bpipe tapers down from 3" at inlet to 2.5" at outlet. Stock diameter is 2.5. I have a 3" ypipe and a stock 2.5" midpipe, so i'm cosidering getting the japtrix.

I just called japtrix. The guy i talked to was pretty much a dzik, saying they don't normally sell the bpipe separately and that they have no more in stock. He said to call back two weeks into the new year because he doesn't know if they will continue to sell the bpipe alone. When i asked him if he had dyno'd his bpipe, he said "why would we do that?". Just not a real customer friendly guy, and kinda rude. Maybe i'll just stay with my stock bpipe, and certainly i will not buy from his company.

Sorry to hear that, did you get a name?

I would be surprised if it was either of the Roger's, they are really cool guys, I have a feeling I know who it might have been. Let me know because I will see one of the Roger's Sunday at a car meet so I am sure he would be interested in knowing again if it wasn't one of them having a bad day, but I can't see why they wouldn't sell the mid pipe alone.

I don't remember the name, but i don't think it was "Roger". Yeah, that would be great if you could talk to him; i don't know of anyone else who makes a bpipe that tapers down like i need. I've subscribed to this thread, and i'll wait for your response. thankz again, westpac.

Definitely keep us updated on this b-pipe issue, as I'm in the market as well. I certainly hope this rude guy wasn't in the know, and that b-pipe might be discontinued by itself.

I think I might have gotten the last one. They asked me some weird questions about the y-pipe as well...like if I was using their's or not.

They probably don't normally like to split them up...but if they knew they were the only people out there who make the correct b-pipe for all these y-pipes that are being bought in the group sales, they'd make some nice $$.

Some people are getting aftermarket exhausts that bolt to the y-pipe. (Like Invidia).

The guy I spoke to tho was really cool and hooked me up. I'll take pics of the install when the pipe gets here next week.

I wanted to tell the guy i spoke to about the potential benefit of selling them to aftermarket ypipe buyers, but he was so surly and curt, i decided just to let it go cuz i didn't want to **** him off any further.

If they offer a b pipe(mid-pipe) for a G35 coupe, I would like to get one as well. My wifey got me a Fuji Y-Pipe for xmas and would like to bolt everything up at once.

I know they have done them, just a little longer, I will check with them to see if they still do.

OK, I talked to Roger tonight and it appears it was a misunderstanding, they will make more b-pipes and sell them separately for the 350Z and G35, the problem was that he ran out of single b pipes or mid pipes and only has two complete sets of y-pipe with b-pipe and didn't want to split them in case someone comes in looking for both parts.

So he is currently looking for a local source for the materials as his previous source has gone MIA and said he should have it sorted out in the next couple of weeks.
