Default Y-pipe installed

Quick write up...If you're not going true dual, or your exhaust didn't come with a y-pipe, these are great to have. Much better than stock.

The inlet is standard (2.5?) but the outlet is 3". Now I just need to find an exhaust that will bolt up to the y-pipe with a 3" pipe, or have something custom made. Any suggestions?

You can try Japtrix B-Pipe. It's 3" opening, that tapers down to the stock Muffler opening. www.japtrix.com

Ah heck. I just ordered a Gruppe-S y-pipe, but wasn't aware it's outlet was larger than stock. Can anyone tell me about how much these Japtrix b-pipes are? (Just to give me an idea of what I'm looking at.)

I was thinking about picking up an Invidia N1 if I couldn't reach these guys.

Let them know that they have a potential buyer in waiting...I left them a message; Eric with a (425) area code.

The sound of the y-pipe is nice. I was already running Kinetix resonated test pipes, so my car was louder...but this y-pipe deepens the growl. Hard to explain...but I think it sounds better. It is definitely louder under full acceleration.

I'm not into super loud exhausts, so this is about right...which is why I fear getting the Invidia...I don't want anything that's going to attract too much attention.

No, I haven't done any at all. I was going to get the Technosquare ECU reflash to level out the AF ratio...but I won this stupid y-pipe on e-bay and now I'm just trying to get my exhaust set up right...then I'll get the ECU reflash next month.

I also have JWT pop, Crawford plenum, kinetix test pipes...so yeah, I'm probably running lean.

Thanks for the help.....they're shipping it out tomorrow morning. Makes me very happy....cause I can't stand when my car isn't running top notch.

I'll take some pics and do a write up...I think they'll be getting some more business with all the y-pipe deals going on.

Does connecting the japtrix bpipe to a ypipe with a 3" outlet make any difference over just using the stock bpipe, performance-wise? Has anyone proved that a bpipe is beneficial in this situation? I have a 3" outlet connected to the stock bpipe.

What did they charge you for the bpipe?

They did dynos with their y-pipe and got 5-6 HP gain and then they did dynos with their y-pipe and mid-pipe and got 10-11 HP so they attributted 5-6 HP to the mid pipe.

For the price you cannot beat their two pipes and you get the gains, they tried a couple of mufflers and no power change only note of the sound, so great deal for those that want to keep their stock muffler but get the gains.

Well, in my opinion, I don't think it's good to have such an abrupt "wall" in your exhaust. That's gotta cause some back pressure...you're going from 3" to 2.5"...and if you held the gasket over the 3" hole, you'd see what you're doing. The Japtrix has the 3" inlet for the b-pipe then tapers down to a 2.5" outlet for the muffler.

I'm sure it isn't huge, but because I know it's there...I can definitely feel it! I can hear my car crying.

Oh, they charged me $225 + shipping.
Piece of mind can be expesive.
