Give it some time. Mine got just a little louder, but it took about a year for the insulation to burn off some. sounds really good now.

Hi-Flow Cats will definitely open up both the sound and add to the performance. Of course Headers will also. But all headers are very hard to install. My choice for both the cats or headers would be Crawford.

I was second in line for that amazing deal you got on that exhaust . I would recommend test pipes if you want to increase the sound... or you could just sell it to me . Test pipes usually add raspiness to the exhaust, so you might want consider high-flow cats unless you are looking for the other sound combination.

Can you tell a performance difference with the new exhaust installed? Can the butt dyno feel the effects????

test pipes or high-flow cats?
hmmm......
test pipes are high-flow cats but without the cats, right?
i cant tell the difference...
borla TD seems like it's not there.over 4K, i hear more of my pop charger...and my butt dyno tell me that....hmmm....cant really tell...haha

test pipes are straight thru pipes

I'd get resonated test pipes though - like the kinetix ones if I was going that route - regular test pipes will be raspy and you probably won't like it.

Test pipes won't pass emissions so you'd end up switching back to stock cats for emissions testing

The high flow cats (recomend crawford) will simply amplify the sound - not hugely louder, but still louder. They probalby will pass emissions.

When I went in to get my Injen straight tip exhaust installed they told me avoid the Borla. Everyone who has one gets leaks. Its the most popular exhaust because its the cheapest out there but poor quality. They use shitty claps!. I do like the sound of my Injen, its loud and deep.

I have the Crawford cats, Headers, Plenum and Borla TD. I love the sound and the quality of the parts. Crawford makes the best and only the best parts. The Borla is good quality, leaks are not a problem if you get a good install, I haven't had any problems with leaks, I had a faulty H Pipe but since Borla replaced it, I've had zero problems. The exhaust is deep and very throaty sounding IMH.

Great quality!

I don't think the injen is much louder than borla, although I've not heard the borla in person. The injen is deep, not like the nismo at all. I have high flow crawfords on my car too, and they helped a little, but not too much with making it louder. I too want mine a bit louder....

I have dc headers, kinetix hf cat and the borla td and it sounds fantastic.
My neighbors say they can hear me a block away.
I got the Borla td first and it sounds just a bit louder than stock, but after I added the headers and cats it came to life.

I like my borla. Some of us dont want to have a screechingly loud exhaust. It sounds very like a high performance car, not an all out race car.

i have the borla TD & at first i wanted it louder as well. i have the kinetix resonated testpipes, didnt help much for ehaust note volume(great gains though!).....i then went to my local custom muffler shop & had the resonators removed from the borla setup. it got much louder! at 1st i was very happy, i thought it sounded very cool. after about 2 weeks i realized it just wasnt for me, that it was too obnoxious. the z is meant to sound exotic w/o screaming, wich i realized it had that sound before i removed the resonators. it really depends on the owner of the z. if you want to be heard remove the resonators. if you just want a throaty exotic sound w/o being loud then leave them in.........just to end, the removed resonators isnt a bad sound at all. very crisp & throaty while beig loud. i got numerous compliments on my exhaust when the resonators were removed, i too was asked "do i really like the loudness on a z"? so its just depends on what you want. great thing is you have this option to do so depending on what you like, makes the borla a tad more versitle......ive since reinstalled the resonators......
