Default Crawford or Kinetix

Thinking about getting the upper Plenum and High-Flow Cat package.

Has anyone switched from Crawford to Kinetix or vise-versa?

Which has more proven gains?

I'd be interested in seeing pics. Please show'em off here.

They both make about the same power I believe. I have the Kinetix V4 and it looks great, performs great and it allows you to keep your OEM STB and engine cover. I am at work so I dont have any pix. My car will be @ Z1 getting my Topspeed headers installed tonight and tomorrow. If you are not too far away, you could see mine in person.

Oh yeah, Kinetix is also working on an aluminum upper and lower 1 piece plenum. Check out the thread on here.

I raised this exact question about the high flow cats already:
https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....hreadid=100537

Its not a very long thread. In the end, most people said the gains proved very little difference, but the Crawfords did show better craftsmanship, at the cost of a higher price.

I'm concerned about the Kinetix V4 being plastic.

Does ANYONE know of an OEM that uses a plastic Plenum? or is this only an afermarket mod?

Vettes, mustangs, camaros, GTO, etc all use plastic upper manifolds, in fact it is quite common. The difference is their upper manifolds are molded into runners which have far less "flat" surface area and are not under any type of flex stress. Our upper plenums have a large surface area which will cause flexing in plastics and even our aluminum constructed plenum (with supports). The welded aluminum will hold up to this flex. The only better solution will be a molded aluminum plenum.

Hey

You guys know me. Crawford all the way. Crawford rocks, they understand the VQ35 better than any other tuner out there.

having both the kinetix and crawford plenums.
i did not have the latest version of the kinetix plenum, but the problems of cracking and sending plenums back and forth was just not worth it IMO.
i eventually got a refund and bought a crawford plenum.
i am happy with my crawford, and i don't have to worry about it cracking.

as for cats, i do not own either... i have some r/t cats on. and if or actually when my r/t cats collapse, i will get some crawford cats.

I had the kinetix and it was decent. I expected way more, but it still performed. I have never tried the crawford one. Either one you go with, they both will work fine. They are both pretty decent.

Question for you on the Kinetix and JIC CF Strut Bar, I know you said they won't work together. Where does it rub against it? The sides? or on the top of it in the middle? or both? Reason I am asking is because I am most likely getting the JIC CF SB but I was going to shave the design off of the Kinetix plenum (I just don't like the design). I am still considering getting a Crawford and modding the engine cover (kshep is really trying to make one look good and i'm waiting to see what his looks like).

Or, maybe Unlimited Tuning will save me from having to mod any intake plenum at all and develop a plenum that fits under most sb's (including JIC) and uses the stock engine cover .

there is no way to make a larger plenum that fits under the stock strut brace....

The JIC bar would likely rub at the top of the plenum, towards the rear half of the strut brace, as well as on the sides - it barely fit my stock strut brace before I removed it (caused my stock strut brace to hit my hood)
