Default CAI vs short-ram intake

Well, i raced my friend who has a bone stock "blessed" 350z (one of those that come with a little extra *umph* than the rest).

I have the Injen CAI, by the way.

From a roll, i always get a jump on him and stay like that. We raced coming back, had a little longer stretch, at first it's the same result with me getting a jump, but top end his car starts pulling on me

Anyway, before this race, i would say like two months prior, i had converted my CAI into a short-ram, we raced down the highway and we were neck-to-neck.

So, my question is, will the CAI make me lose top-end power? According to my results, yes, but i would like to know from other people their personal experiences.

Thanks in advance.

My CAI was added to a 99 Civic ...top end wise, I didnt dyno prior to the CAI solo install however I did feel a major difference with the CAI with exhaust combo.... I later took off the CAI due to the monsooons we get here in Spring in fear that I would suck up water
