Default Check out what Santa brought -- Crawford Headers w/ Jet Hot 2000

As a present to myself I ordered some Crawford headers and had them coated in Jet Hot 2000 as part of the 350ZMotoring group buy (on Jet Hot coating).

The headers arrived today and are spectacular. The attention to detail on the headers is matched only by the perfectly prepared Jet Hot 2000 coating. I am excited to get these babies installed -- but damn they look sooooo good. As they say -- good header design is like art.

Note the etched serial number -- which the Jet-Hot allows to show through.

I noticed that each header is actually designed differently. The right are shapped differently from the left.

BTW, according to my bathroom scale the headers are 8 lbs each, 16 lbs total. Any idea what the stock headers weigh?

The jet hoat helps protect the life of the header and keeps them from letting off so much heat too from what i've heard. Those do look really nice! What specific jethot coating is that? 1500 for headers does seem mighty steep though.

The biggest benefit is that they underhood temps are greatly reduced. Doug told me that even with the normal ceramic coating some customers have boiled their clutch fluid due to the heat. All headers will generate an extreme amount of heat unless they coated in something. Ceramic is great, Jet-Hot 2000 is the best.

As I do a lot of track events (road racing stuff) and my car will see some extreme use in the summer (Big Willow and Buttonwillow get blistering hot in the summer) -- it's one less thing generating heat.

Not to scare you -- but i have heard of a lot of folks with plain stainless headers (not coated) having over heating problems at track events. The headers generate enormous heat under the hood.

I've heard the same from numerous track guys with headers. All the guys I've talked to said that coating them not only helped out the engine bay temps a lot, but also extended the life of the headers. I've been told that steel in general doesn't hold up too well over time on headers because of the extreme temps, but coating them inside and out with stuff like JetHot helps extend their life greatly. (I guess the welds are a big problem area?) That's why I went ahead and plunked down the $200 on JetHot 2000 coating for my headers. I'm sure I'll be glad I did in the long run.

The OEM headers and heat shields weigh about 10-10.5 lbs each.
My Topspeed headers were about 6.5 lbs each.

Crawfords look awesome. I would love a set if they werent SOOO damn expensive.

good call on the jet hot 2000 coating...that should cool things down in the engine bay and then you don't have to worry about wrapping any nearby cables, etc...they turned out really nice
