Default My 2nd Set Of Kinetix Cats Are On Now,...

...and i still get some rattle from the rear; i think it's the muffler or something close. anytime i hit a big bump, i get the noise. i don't know if i should just except it, or try another brand. i guess the kr cats, borla dual, and dc headers r not a good combo, as far as fitment goes. weird thing is, i take the cats off and i have no issues. i dunno. it's not all the time. i guess i'll try it for a few days, then decide if i'll keep em on.

i also got my hotchkis tvs stage 1 installed. haven't really whipped it around yet to see if their is a diff, but it seems less bouncy so far.

Kinetix have fitment issues. Try the Crawfords.

My drivers side kinetix cat is very close to the underbody and hits during some turns or hard acceleration. I'm going to try and put some type of flame resistant padding around it.

I have not installed mine yet. What are the chances I am going to have this problem as well?

i dunno; it could just b my parts list. either way, i think i'm gonna keep em on. it's not bad at all. i drove to work today without a peep, and it is clearly the most bumpy ride my car experiences. i really have to jar the rear to get it to make noise. these r a lot better than my previous set. i think i i'd probly have the same thing happen with another set, honestly. i'm happy for now.

Judging from the quality and fitment of my camber arms, I'd say to buy some new cats. How the heck do any of you guys even get in contact with Kinetix? I've been calling and emailing for a week and still no response from him.

I'm sorry but I don't know how Kinetix stays in business. Seems like all of thier products have some kind of problem with them. Everytime I read a thread on a Kinetix product there is always a problem with it, and if there isn't one, there soon will be.

They have gone through what, five versions of the intake plenum and they still have cracking or fitment issues. I don't know about the rest of you, but I will never buy a Kinetix product.

I've had my Kinetix cats for about 8 months now with no problems. Just got their y-pipe, too. Haven't installed it yet, but it *looks* fine.

Well if it's hittin the heat shield like it was on mine...then just get under it or go to an exhaust shop and have them bend the shield with a huge crowbar looking thing.
Question: with that combo do you have ANY bit of rasp?

my kinetix cats were rubbing the shields, but i fixd it with a hammer and chisel. i heard the sound directly underneath me, but if you're hearing it in back, i wonder if the extra flow is causing something further downstream to rub. Should get it checked at a muffler shop to see exactly what's goin on.

well, i had a mechanic check it out, and he couldn't see anything that would cause it. i'm not exactly sure what rasp sounds like, but i can really hear the air flowin. it's like someone blowin into a metal straw. sounds like crap. regardless, the z's in the shop gettin a set of new ultimate racing cats swapped on. should b able to pick it up tonight, and i'll let u guys know my thoughts.

well it could be rasp then if you're hearing the metallic sound coming out of ur exhaust. I get that right now with TopSpeed headers, Kinetix Cats, Crawford plenum, and a custom Y-pipe w/ dual 18" resonators (which might have slight leaks at the flanges). I'm gettin the injen SES straight tip exhaust and I'm scared I'm going to have the same exact problem. I guess if i do, the solution would be to add more resonators. I dunno if this is the same situation your in.

I know if you put the stock cats on, the rasp sound will go away for sure...but...if you're like me, you don't wanna lose all that power after spending all that money. I guess the only thing left to do is to add 2 resonators somewhere right after the cats. If I have the same problem when I get my exhaust on, I know I'll be doin that as my last resort.

Well I figured the rasp would be more important but I guess not . Have you tried banging the heat shield at all? If the cats look close at all to the heat shields then I would bend them. If not...I have no idea what else it could be.
Good luck.
