Right, no core exchange with this plenum. Right now the price is $350, could go up after a while though.

Well, I read all the posts about this and I don't think anyone asked this. But this might sound dumb, however I think people like me needs to know hehe.
What will happen if you just take out your stock strutbar with the plenum without getting that strutbar?
and Modifying the engine covers to fit, does anyone have pics? also what do you exactly need to modify to make the cover fit?
thanks guys
John

I believe someone is doing a test to see if there is a difference in handling. There are quite a few people who have the strutbar and just modified the engine cover so the strutbar could go through. All you should need is a Dremel.

There are more pics at: www.freewebs.com/crawfordz
that show modified engine cover and the plenum.

Doug has not had a strut bar on his for awhile now while all this testung is going on. No real effect. Remember, the G35 has no strut bar.

So is the plenum for sale already? I'm glad I waited to purchase one.

so this one is higher eh.

have you thought about rasing it up even more? perhaps with a spacer? theres a thread at g35driver.com where they are dyno testing the V5 and a spacer, and together with different sizes. might be interesting.

Any higher (taller) and it hits the underside of the hood- that's what's taken so long- to make sure there are no clearance issues.

Alright, this is a tad off topic, but one of the Crawford guys said that they are not the only ones to have a STB that would work, but the only other one i've seen is the Stillen one, and between the two I think i'd prefer the Crawford, I know the APS plenum will also require a new STB, but are there any options? Don't want to sound like those we-rate-our-competition-insurance commercials, but is APS coming out with their own, are there any i haven't heard of? thanks.

Well I am pretty sure APS is going to offer a strutbar. DC Sports I believe is another option for a strutbar.

Has anyone ever figured out, if any, the HP gains vs. cost analysis? Where are the gains (if any) at the high end? low end?

Im trying to be positive here...

Seems like alot of work/finacial investment for minimal results...

As you can see we put it on my car tonight and the fit is perfect. The main difference between this plenum and the prototypes are thicker flanges and the intake is larger, which is ideal for those of you running the larger throttle body.
Larger throttle body? Where/who/what? I want one. (Sorry if I am Hi-jacking a little bit)

The V5 and this are the same, only difference is these are cast. Will anyone post a dyno of the V5? The gains are similar to Kinetix. I don't want to state a number and not be correct so i'll wait for the dyno. Do a search and see what comes up.

Does anyone understand what Im asking? I want to know if the cost of , replacing the plenum, relocating the strut bar, does the HP gain ~ the cost? and if so where are the gains? low end or High end?

I just dont see it. Why wouldnt Nissan design that in from the beginning?

Im not trashing here, Im just skeptical.

yes.. the hp gain DOES justify the cost... I believe you gain up to 19whp max, so where can you pay $350 to gain 19whp?
