Default PROTOTYPE Plenum Spacer

Just wanted to show everyone some of the work we've been doing on a new plenum spacer. It's still in the design and testing phase, but it just looks so cool we couldn't keep our traps shut.

The space is angled to allow for more flow to the front cylinders. We're hoping to maintain the factory strut bar with some spacers, but this may not be possible.

We'll be sure to post up dyno results soon!

Still working on it. We don't want to throw anything out there till we're sure it is good.

What's it made of? Looks like T6 aluminum in the pics. Do you include some wedge shaped washers so the bolt heads sit flush on the upper plenum?

I can't wait to see the dyno sheets!

Yep 6061-T6. The washers are still up for design.

Next couple of days for the dynos!

With ECU Flash and without.

mmmmmmm......
gotta love aluminum...
were bringing in a stock Z to do our dyno runs, we no longer can use my car, but most likely i will throw the spacer on with my kinetix if it will fit...just to see if i get any gains from it...that is if its possible...but definatley looking forward to seeing if we spark some gains on the dyno. more info to come soon guys.

Man,

I'm getting more psyched about this by the minute. When I first saw the JDM version on Bulletproofautomotive.com I started working on a prototype spacer out of UHMW PE. I gave up after a few prototypes didn't work out.

You obviously have a lot invested in this piece. Is this extruded? Water cut? You probably won't say but I'm interested how you cut the angle.

It's cut out of a solid block of 17" x ~11" x 1" Aluminum on our in-house CNC Mill (you can see the doors in the backround pictures). Our MAD SCIENTIST (aka Alex) does all the programming and cutting. Most of his backround is in aerospace and military spec one off parts.

dont think this will work with other plenums as your not benefiting from the angled piece as much as you would stock. plus the aftermarket plenums are almost maxed under the Z's hood for clearance as well as with the strutbar. the G has much more hood clearnace for things like spacers & taller upper plenums. this angled design spacer is perfect for those who want to stay with the stock plenum. it appears it will equal out the air flow to the starving runners from the poor stock design.......very nice looking piece by the way!
if i had room under my Z's hood i would definately add a 1/4" spacer under my kinetix plenum, the added internal volume along with a larger t.b. would reap some deffinate benefits IMO!

Hope all goes positive from the dyno aspect. If this adds power comp to the plenums I would definitely be in as it may allow the stock STB and engine cover. It would also seem almost stock so the dealer would probably never notice.

Man, AAM kicks but. They keep getting better and better. I can't wait to work with them on my Z when I get all my stuff ready.

Not a problem. It goes between the factory lower plenum and the upper plenum. This gives you a larger volume at the front cylinders and in general around the intake runners. The great thing is that you can always return to stock, its not obvious, we may be able to maintain the stock strut bar, and hopefully the price will be significantly less then other options on the market.

Hope that helps!

Sins4u33, please keep us updated if the kinetix plenum benefits from this as well, very interested.

You might end up hitting the hood. Run out of clearance. And you would definitely not be able to run strut bar anymore thus defeating the purpose of that plenum.
