It would be pointless imo, other than sound, unless you are getting an exhaust also.

Ok, I don't understand why you are mad... Just curious, what kind of problems would you think there would be? Fit? Having a CEL come on? I don't believe anyone has problems with that, only some test pipes would have problems imo (one's without a bung for the 02 sensor or not put through a lot of R&D).

BTW, the disclaimer is a joke, get a sense of humor and chill.

Oh yeah, you may want to do a search if you want to get faster answers.

I have Kinetix cats with the stock exhaust right now. No problems at all. It's actually a pretty good option, since the main choke point in the stock exhaust system is (according to general consensus) the cats. After that, I believe the stock y-pipe is the next worst offender.

High flow cats do add a bit more volume to the stock exhaust sound, but not too much, and only at high throttle loads (mainly just heavy acceleration). Sound while cruising on the freeway is virtually no different than stock.

If you're wondering why my sig says I have a Nismo exhaust, it's because I recently installed a Nismo exhaust, and thing thing was way too lound on the freeway when combined with those cats. Huge droning that bored into your skull and made the drive very unpleasant. After a couple of road trips my girlfriend and I couldn't stand it anymore, so I removed it and put the stock exhaust back on (but kept the high flow cats).

My next move is to try the stock cats with the Nismo exhaust and see how it sounds.

What is the real difference between a resonated test pipe and a high flow cat? Sound wise and performance wise?

One flows better, and the other is better for the environment. But seriously, the resonated test pipe *might* be a bit louder, but probably not much. Perhaps someone that has used both can comment.

I have plenum, cams, headers, hi flows, nismo exhaust, and also 3.9 final drive. IMO it doesn't drone but I get the impression some of you will think it does.

In 6th gear cruising at 80mph at 3300rpm - I like hearing the car go when you push the gas pedal down. If you leave your foot just barely on the gas, the car is essentially coasting at 80mph, you're just giving it enough gas to keep doing it. It isn't until you accellerate that you hear the exhaust

Just changing the cats out would not help too much IMO, but they still will help. So far the best ones we've used ar the crawfords, there's not rattle, no vibration, the fit is nice etc....
anything you do to open up the exhaust more so than stock will help out

Do you feel there are other points in the exhaust that are as restrictive as the cats? I know the oem y-pipe is bad, but I didn't think it was anywhere near as bad as the oem dual cats.

Is the Nismo exhaust really that loud? I was thinking of eventually running stock headers, crawford cats, nismo exhaust.

With high flow cats, yeah, mine was very loud. On the freeway, going up a slight incline, the drone was so loud I'd almost have to yell to talk to the passenger. Guys with test pipes and headers have said talking at all became a non-option. What was it Jason@PerformanceNissan said a while back? He and his girlfriend would say "talk to you later" when they were getting into his car. (He has headers, high flow cats, and the Nismo exhaust.)

I'm going to reinstall the Nismo with the stock cats this week and see if that quiets it down. I'll experiment with a few things to see how they affect loudness and post my results when I'm done.

I have the topspeed headers, kinetix cats & fuji y-pipe with stock exhaust and haven't had any problems. Sometimes theres a bit of raspiness but it goes away once the car really warms up.

If I go with exhaust I will have to find a quiet one cause I already feel that it's already fairly loud. Probably go with a fuji since I heard that it was quieter than stock?

Oddly enough, I have a buddy with high flow cats, headers, and a Fuji system, and it's pretty loud. Not as bad as other exhausts are in the same situation, but moreso than stock, for sure. If you've already got headers and high flow cats, then you might want to stick with the stock exhaust just so it doesn't make you go deaf.

Oh, I just remember. Fujitsubo seems to have a new exhaust out that seems to be even quieter than stock at cruising speed. Very cool! I think it's called the Fujitsubo Elegant. It can be found on their Japanese site.
